Prophetically Interpreting Body Art

Interpreting body art prophetically

Nearly ten years ago I was one of the forerunners for Prophetic Evangelism. I went all around the world training people to use dream interpretation and prophecy as a means of sharing God’s love. This style has now caught on and people everywhere are finding fun and creative ways to speak personal prophetic words of encouragement to people who need direction for their lives.

I am “forerunning” once again!
Helping people find their destiny and life purpose is one of the most helpful and powerful things we can do for them. Over the next 5–10 years destiny-based evangelism will become more and more prevalent. It encompasses all aspects of what a person needs to move forward. This includes, but is not limited to healing, dream interpretation, prophecy, spirit-filled life coaching, and explaining the supernatural in practical ways.

Tattoos and more
An example of this is that over the past few years I have been having success with explaining the prophetic symbolism and location of people’s tattoos and piercings. When someone tells you the story behind a tattoo they are opening up their life to you and it often reveals revelation about their destiny that they did not know was there. When I tell them what God is saying to them and that even Jesus comes back with a tatt in Revelation 19:16 (King of Kings and Lord of Lords is written His thigh) there is a glimmer of new hope imparted to a hopeless generation. I am not saying to get a tattoo, but with the zillions of people everywhere getting them, we must seize the moment and use it to prophesy to them.

I have also found that many dreams that people have at night are pointing towards their life dreams. Many people are daydreaming about doing something great someday. We can help them turn those daydreams into life dreams as well. Destiny is like a connect-the-dots drawing. We need to help people recognize where they are and what to do next. When you get on an airplane you hear the instructions to put your own oxygen mask on first before assisting someone else. In the same way, when you begin to live your life to the fullest potential in God, you will be more able to help others.

God sums up our destiny in one verse from the Bible:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

God’s intentions for us are prosperity (doing what God calls us to do when He calls us to do it); no harm (living a life free of the fear of things like cancer and terrorism); a hope and a future (rising above discouragement and having a clear picture of what you want in life). Oftentimes we live a life opposite of God’s desires for us and later find we could have had a much more rewarding and fulfilling quality of life. It is an amazing time to be alive. We need to reach out beyond ourselves and not let our own prejudices stand in the way from sharing God’s destiny for people around us. There are no limits in God therefore what we can accomplish through His love and power has no limits as well.

I am releasing my new Prophetic Tattoo and Piercing Interpretation online training this month. Stay tuned!

Hi Doug …after a traumatic time in my life I blacked out from stress and shattered my wrist. Years afterwards I drew this and had a friend tattoo it on my left wrist. I heard you prophetically interpret tattoos. Can you reveal what I have drawn here? Thank you in His service .. Chris

Hello Doug, I have a tattoo of a lion (Lion of Judah) on my left arm. I originally took a picture of a white lion while I was at a lion safari in Johannsburg South Africa. As in my tattoo the Lion was perched up on a rock overlooking his territory. My tat includes the crown of thrones on lion. I put the lion on left arm because I’m left handed. I wanted the Lion of Judah to always be with me watching over everything I put my hands to do.

I recently went to Burning Man with Cindy McGill’s ministry and hope to go again next year. I’ll definitely get your teaching on tattoo interpretation for that event. Thank you, Doug, for living the life to which God has called you to the fullest. His Kingdom and our lives are all richer for it.

I recently attended one of your meetings. The revelation God has given you on tattoos is awesome. These people are literally “wearing their hearts on their sleeves”. What an incredible way for the Lord to tell them that He loves them.

    Hi Doug,

What a wonderful article! Rachelle and I have a chapter called, Living Life on Purpose in our first personal finance book (Got Money?). Determining the Father’s original intent is vital for everyone! Thanks for the radical shift in thinking. Shabam! 🙂

Your article demonstrates the bigness of our God and how to out of the box and relevant for today in reaching both the church and the lost as well.

This is just awesome to explain tattoos prophetically! It is an outward sign of who the person is, served on a platter, for us to build on and add in the purposes of God for their life! I love it!
    You really are a forerunner!

What a wonderful way to reach so many lost people. I know that I am interested and will look at tattoos and piercings differently. I will ask the story instead of being judgmental. Thanks Doug for being a forerunner for God.
