Jesus Comes Back with a Tatt

Winking Eye Jesus ChristJesus Comes Back with a Tatt

Doug Addison

“The world is divided into two kinds of people: those who have tattoos, and those who are afraid of people with tattoos.” Unknown

Tattoos used to be for sailors, bikers, and criminals! But now tattoos are quickly becoming an acceptable part of society. What was once considered rebellious is now mainstream. So many people have tattoos and they are often very symbolic.

Why do people get tattoos?

Many people choose tattoos to reveal their self-identity, to show accomplishments, to identify a group or association. Sometime people have a tattoo to commemorate important events in their life or to show devotion towards a loved one. Tattoos display their passions, likes or hobbies. Sometimes people get tattoos because of a phase or peer pressure. Of course, not all tattoos are positive.

Tattoos in Bible

The Bible talks about marks on your body, or tattoos in Isaiah. Here God says He will never forget you and will even write your name on hand, “See, I have written your name on my hand. Jerusalem, I always think about your walls.” Isaiah 49:16 (Emphasis mine). So, has God put a tattoo of your name on his hand?

What if this generation is not as rebellious as they might appear? Check out what Isaiah says about what your children will do during a time of getting back to spirituality in God:

For I will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams. One will say, ‘I belong to the Lord’; another will call himself by the name of Jacob; still another will write on his hand, “The Lord’s” and will take the name Israel. Isaiah 44:3-5 (Emphasis mine.)

That verse is talking about a tattoo! This is about a coming revival during a dry time. It is saying that there will be such a commitment level that they will write God’s name on their hands.

We are going to see a revival among people who are tattooed. We are trying to get them to live for something, but they are looking for something to die for!

Jesus comes back with a tatt!

“On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:16 (Emphasis mine.)

There are millions of people who have tattoos, and it is a great opportunity to use our prophetic gifting.

Are tattoos immoral?

I am not trying to encourage people to get a tattoo. It’s interesting that Leviticus 19:28 says to not get a tattoo. However, Leviticus 11:7 says to not eat pork. Do we have bacon eaters judging people with tattoos using Leviticus as their basis?

From a thorough study of the Bible it does not appear that tattoos, in and of themselves, are immoral. However, some designs might be. It is up to each individual person, what their parents think and their own convictions with God if they want to get a tattoo or not. Each person needs to use balance and good judgment.

After years of interpreting dreams and now tattoos, I have found some amazing stories and have a lot of divine encounters. I’m trying to build a bridge, won’t you join me?

You can learn more about how to interpret the prophetic messages in tattoos on my website. Http://dougaddison.com

I have Christian friends who have tattoos and those who don’t. I think some tattoos are quite attractive, but my concern is the misinterpretation of scripture and what God says is the highest priority. When asked Jesus said the greatest commandment is “to Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matt 22:37. In Matt 7:21-23 Jesus states that there will be MANY who claim to be followers of Jesus and who even do very impressive works (things God wants us to do) and yet Jesus states “I never knew you, depart from me workers of evil deeds”. WHY DID JESUS SAY THESE THINGS? To get us…. believers… to wake up and realize that there is more than just living life the way we want… deciphering how many do’s and don’ts will allow us to still be “good enough”… really “Holy enough”… to be acceptable to God and calling ourselves “Christian”. Now, if you go back to Leviticus and read the whole sections, not just taking one or two versus to prove your point, you will see what God’s POINT is, His PURPOSE is, and it’s much bigger than 1 or 2 “do’s” or “don’ts” and that DOES still apply to all of us. Lev 18:3 “You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices”. Vs 24 “Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, BECAUSE this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled”. Lev 19:1 “Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy”. Read what Jesus said on the Sermon on the mount (Matt 5-7)… what about Matt 5:20 “For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.” Then read the rest where he explains what he means and you will see it is NOT just keeping this or that, it is are we HOLY BEYOND THE ACTIONS? Its not about whether this or that is “acceptable” or “now more acceptable by our society”. it’s ARE WE IN LOVE WITH JESUS or doing what WE want in his name? If we need to quit our jobs to follow Jesus will we? Or will we say its ok with these people? If we look for someone to agree with us, we can always find that, even a preacher…. but are you trying to please yourself or God? Pleasing God WILL require sacrifice. “If you love your life you will loose it” Mat 10:39, 16:25, Lk 9:24, Lk 17:33, Jn 12:25. Although you may think I am against getting tattoos….. that’s legalism. But I am against those who are just looking for an excuse to do what they want and still call themselves servants of Jesus. Decide who you will serve. 1 Peter 3:15… talking to Christians…. “Set apart Christ as LORD”.

The web site is still under development but will on line soon !. Watch this space.

Wow brother as my E mail and web site would indicate I am a tattoo Artist. I am a very serious and active believer and Staunch Christian. Jesus is the way, the truth and the Life Amen. It’s a long awaited response as the Lord has allowed me to continue in the Tattoo Industry which by traditional mainstream Christian circles could be looked upon with an un-supportive attitude. However more to the point I am proud to tattoo faith based ink on any and all willing christian,s who want to make a proud statement of their faith in the Son of the Everlasting God Jesus Christ who is risen and victorious.

It is awsome to see so many people who are embracing your revelation

This is for all you uneducated people who actually believe that you have a point to make….Tattoos have many different variations both ancient and modern, even the simple “cutting of flesh” is a form of tattooing and is still practiced around the world today!!

definitely… Obviously your biblical interpretation is right on… NEXT: Jesus is also into piercings —- I am sure you will now have to do a blog on that too, and then into welding, (the two become one flesh). Now this is getting very exciting.

Thanks Doug for that insight. When I became a born again believer i was told that tattoos (all of them) are demonic, and its not the most encouraging thing you want to hear especially when you have them. Bless you heaps

    Hi Doug!

I wanted to share something with you. Leviticus 19:28 is not talking about tattoos at all. In fact, in many newer translations the word is translated as cutting. It’s the same Hebrew word that is used when the prophets of Baal were cutting themselves and bleeding in an attempt to get Baal to consume their sacrifice. The Hebrew word means to cut yourself and bleed as a form of worship to false idols. It’s not about putting ink into your skin.

I once had a discussion with a pastor couple (both pastored) and they went back to the age-old “if God wanted you to have one you would have been born with one…” argument. Of course, she was sitting there with double-pierced ears, hair color, full make-up, nails done, etc… and wearing clothes. I mean, if God wanted you to wear clothes you would have been born with them, right?

It’s sad that we’re so quick to use God’s Word to support our personal cultural preferences.

      Amey,

Out of what translation are you referring to that it does not say anything about tattooing? I just read many various translations (NLT, ESV, NIV, NASB, AMP) and they all said something about cutting AND tattooing. Even the KJV says not to, “make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you”. Could you please clarify without just making a general statement that most don’t say it and it’s not about tattooing at all?

Dear Doug,I have been getting Delivered from Legalism, and you have been a Contributor, and I Thank you,I personally Feel that If GOD wanted to Put something on my Body,He Would Have. But The reason I think that GOD put that in Leviticus is Because The Ungodly were marking themselves up,and GOD ALWAYS was Looking for a “Separated People”,Besides the fact/Concern about Infections.Nobody knows that what will be written on his thigh is a Tattoo.and I think by you making that point will just lead some to go,and get one.I do not Judge someone who has them, and I am a Street Minister,I TRY MY BEST to STAY OUT OF CHURCHES,Because I am So Sick of all the BONDAGES in Those “2 Walls”.I have battled Many years over the Issue about a Christian Drinking Alcohol also, and Fought like a Wild Man Trying to Prove MY POINT that a Believer should Not Drink AT ALL!! I was Unkind, and Self-Righteous About it too!!!It Bothered me for Years. As I began to seek the Lord on this ,it came Down to ONE THING!!!!WELL,2 I guess,Number#1is Ephesians 2:8-You are Saved By GRACE!!!END OF STORY #2 is The Kingdom of GOD is NOT About Meat/Drink!!!!We went to a Kathie Walters meeting last year, and She Spoke about the Legalism Etc,I realized Just How WRONG I had been,Thinking Because I did Not do This/That I was Somehow “HOLIER”or Closer To GOD!!!! I REPENTED,and that night went out to Dinner,I warned my Wife and Son that I was Gonna Do something I needed to do:When The waitress asked “What Do you want to Drink??” I began to Share with her about My Self-Righteousness,and How I judged PPl etc,and That GOD is After the Heart!!!!She Listened with Intent, and then I said “WHAT DO YOU HAVE ON TAP???”She told me,and then asked,Do You want a 10 or 22oz Samuel Adams??? I said Gimme The Big Boy,I am Gonna DROWNED That DEMON!My Wife and son Looked at me in Surprise, but the Laughed!!! I actually had Trouble finishing it!!! I Laughed one time in one of your Videos,Webcast when you said”I was there in the Nightclub”Drinking a Soda”With Heavy Emphasis on “Soda”lol !!!Yes,I am Changing, and still have beer or two about once a week when I make Pizza!!! I am learning alot about What GOD is really after!!!Thanks for Your Help,I saw the movie where you Lovingly went over to the Guys with the Signs, and How you Dealt with it,At one Time I would have been one of Them!!!!But I am Learning about His Love!!!Blessings Doug We Love You!!!!

Thank you for sharing this…..you have made my day! I have several tattoo’s and one of the says “Jesus is Lord” I get judged often for having them (which is fine) but I am always encouraged when I am allowed to witness to complete strangers about Yeshua. I had a man come up to me in Walmart and told me he had just been diagnosed with cancer and how he loved my tattoo “Jesus is Lord”. We talked about Jesus right at the check out. As I was walking to my car he asked me to pray for him and I did of course right there in the parking lot. I love the unique ministry I have even with my tattoo’s. Thank you Prophet of God discussing this :).
