Year of Divine Connections: Resign, Realign and Reassign
It is a time of divine realignment that will result in many reassignments. A big shift will occur this year with many people changing jobs, moving, and changing churches or affiliations. Not everyone will do this, but there will be a large number of people shifting positions. God is strategically aligning people to maximize their Kingdom impact and set them up for future advancement. God keeps showing me a picture of a chessboard and I hear three words for this year: “resign, realign and reassign.”

Not everyone will be called to make a change, but we all will be affected by it this year. Some will stay and some will go, but the best way to deal with it is to let it happen. I saw many long-term pastors and business leaders changing positions this year. This is necessary to breathe new life and vision in preparation for this next move that God is going to bring. This is not to say that existing leaders do not have value; many will be promoted and receive callings that have been reserved for this time in their lives. Remember that we are like chess pieces and God is holding us close in His hands.

I had no idea that this prophetic word would be fulfilled in my own ministry. My personal assistant, Julianna LeRay approached us last week about a feeling from God that she is not the right person to help launch the training center in light of our needing a “start-up” mode person. At first we were devastated because Julianna has been the best assistant I have had in all my years of ministry and business (she has been with us for three years). As we discussed it more, God confirmed that He is indeed in this transition. She has had dreams and prophetic words, two of which I gave her in the past, that confirm that she is about to transition into something new, though it is not yet clear exactly what that is yet. Making such a radical move like this may sound crazy to some people, but when you can hear God clearly and trust His process, the results are always the best.

Many people change jobs but the important part is what they leave behind. Julianna brought a new level of organization, peace, and personal connection to those she came into contact with. I can honestly say that there are times that I do not always see miracles happen in my ministry meetings but when I came home from my travels I witnessed administrative miracles as Julianna managed to accomplish all that I threw her way.

She moved with us from North Carolina and has been very faithful and dedicated to our ministry and she helped bring us up to an entire new level. Her character, abilities and gift-mix will be impossible to replace, so please pray with us as we begin the process of determining the next steps for her and for InLight as we re-evaluate our staffing needs. Julianna has our full blessing and I have total peace that God is going to use this time to strengthen us all. Your continued prayers are vital for us as we navigate this transition together. Thank you for walking with us as we pursue what God has for us, both personally and in ministry.

Examine our Motives
We are emerging from a time of transition in which the old ways of doing things have not been as effective as they once were, while the new things have not yet been totally revealed. This is evident in the U.S. economy with the collapse of the banking system, housing markets, and the auto industry, to name a few. People may blame the government or industry leaders, but the bottom line is that our economic collapse was driven by a spirit of pride and greed. We will need to examine our lives to be sure that we are not being influenced by these spirits as we move into the New Year. This is vital, because pride can cause us to speak against others and to be blind to our own faults.

Matthew 7:1–2 (NIV)
Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

2010 is a New Season for Everyone!
This is the start of a new decade and the start of a new seven-year cycle after the Jewish Year of Jubilee (Leviticus 25:8). The possibilities for us to start fresh are here. We can recover all that has been lost, because God is giving us the opportunity to regain lost ground in 2010 and in the years to come. God is looking for people to hear His voice and get in sync with His plans for this time. In many cases the end result will look much different than what we might have thought. We are living in radical times, which will require radical measures in many cases.

The tables are now turning. God is opening things up to new possibilities. As larger businesses fail or close, smaller businesses will become very successful. With the price of stocks, homes, and cars being at record lows, those who have been wise with their money can capitalize right now. If you have not become debt free or developed a savings account, it is time to start doing so this year. Take a first step today by lowering spending just a bit across the various categories and save the extra money. It doesn’t have to be a lot of money each month, but those who do this consistently will find that they will have a savings account for the first time in their adult lives.

Spring Forward and Fall into Place
New beginnings will start happening in the spring of 2010. When we set the clocks forward this year, it will be a prophetic act in which we “spring forward” into the greater callings that are upon our lives. There will be a lot of new growth; new businesses, new ministries, new relationships, new marriages, new art, and new music will all start to emerge. By the fall there will be a lot more clarity for us and many will know what to do next. It may not be clear right now, but as we get into September and October, many will have received their marching orders from God. Things will begin to “fall” into place.

Isaiah 43:18–19
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

As we move into this new time, it will be important to forget the former way of doing things and let go of the hurts of the past. Humility and forgiveness will be very powerful weapons this year.

Impossible will be Possible
This is a year when anything is possible and you will be able to accomplish things that are greater than you may believe. God is releasing a new strength for us to do the impossible and to break through the obstacles that have held us back in the past.

Philippians 4:13
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

To do the impossible it will require us to be proactive. Many people have been waiting on God to release them into something new. Waiting on God requires us to be proactive and not just sit on the couch and do nothing at all. As you are waiting, you can prepare yourself through study:

Matthew 7:7–8
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”

There will be an Economic Turnaround for Those who Look for it
We are still in for some difficult times, but God is releasing the ability to rise above it. As Christians begin to take their authority with love and humility, there will be a change in the spiritual atmosphere. We ultimately can change our situations, our families, jobs, cities, and our nations. A major key for us during this time will be to stop viewing things negatively and to begin seeing the unlimited potential of God.

I had a dream in which the most severe storm I have ever seen was upon us. The reports on the radio said to take cover and protect everything. People ran and hid themselves. In the dream I felt the boldness of the Lord to watch the storm and not be afraid. As I watched, the storm dissipated and the sun came out. God is calling us to stand up and speak to the storms in our lives and turn them around. This is not a time to run and hide. Remember that Jesus rebuked the storm and it was instantly calm (Luke 8:24–25).

Speak Positive Words Over our Government Leaders
God is calling us to pray and prophesy over our government leaders. You don’t have to agree with their views in order to pray for them. God wants to perform a miracle in the U.S. through the current administration. If Christians continue to speak negatively, the end result of their words and prayers will lock down the atmosphere for positive change. 

James 3:9–10
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.

1 Timothy 2:1–2
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

With the above Bible verses in mind, I would like to make you aware of a serious call to prayer. The Holy Spirit has shown me a POTENTIAL assassination attempt against our President this year. This is not God’s will and we must pray to stop it. Satan wants to unleash rioting and unprecedented violence across U.S. cities, but it can be stopped through our prayers, blessings, and agreement with God’s plans of peace and restoration. If we have been grumbling or speaking against leaders, then our repentance will change the spiritual dynamics in many areas of our lives and ministries.

God wants to release blessings and Heavenly strategies to solve many of the problems we are currently facing as a nation. As I said earlier, humility and forgiveness will be very powerful weapons this year. Examining our hearts and words is a great way to start the New Year.

This will be a year of radical change!

I have been seeing 1:11 repeatedly for the past few weeks, and last weekend I had an experience in which God showed me a major plan of darkness that is being revealed this week. Starting on January 11th, 2010, the plans of the enemy are being exposed for what they are.

There are things that are going to come to light that Satan does not want you to see. Things are not what they appear to be and there have been false reports given. The plan of the enemy to lie to you, bring confusion, and cause you to settle for less is being brought into the light of God.

This is a strategic time for you to take action and get out of your comfort zone. When you do something to change your situation, you will find more clarity, favor, and energy than you had before. This is an opportunity to advance that you will not want to miss. You are being given the missing elements that you need to move forward and set into motion a radical time of turnaround. Watch for the numbers 111.

I woke up the day after Christmas after several dreams where I saw the enemy trying to steal people’s destinies. As I prayed about it I heard the words “identity theft.” Oftentimes, things that are happening in the natural realm reflect what is happening in the spiritual realm. The rise of identity theft in the world is symbolic of what is happening spiritually to people all around the world. I saw two covert strategies that Satan is trying to use against people to keep them from seeing, finding, and fulfilling their life purpose and destiny in God.

Strategy 1: Getting us to Believe That we are our Behavior

Bad experiences or painful pasts can negatively affect our present. There are forces of darkness that want us to believe that we are the only ones who suffer with these issues and that it is unchangeable. This is simply not true. Too often our sin and emotional baggage gets linked to what we believe about ourselves. In other words, our personality and identity becomes associated with the things we struggle with. The strategy of the enemy is for us to believe that we actually “are” how we feel or behave, which is not true at all. Satan wants you to believe things like: you “are” depressed, unhappy, worthless, unable to change, stupid, a failure … the list could go on and on. It is important to realize that our feelings and behavior are situational and we can change them—the truth is feelings and behavior are not who we really are. They might be things that we struggle with, but they are not our identity, or who we are in Christ.

This includes the things that you may think about yourself at a deep level. You might not consciously believe them but you find yourself thinking them or saying them about yourself on a regular basis. Most people don’t see that there is a direct connection between the way they view themselves and their destiny.

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he Proverbs 23:7 NKJV.

Strategy 2: Dying too Much to Yourself and Losing Your Passion

Satan wants to steal our identities and take away any hope for change. When he is able to get us to believe the lies about ourselves in Strategy 1, he then uses Bible verses out of context as he did with Jesus to release a second deadly attack against our destinies by getting us to over respond to our sin.

To experience a radically transformed life we must have renewed thinking. It is interesting that while writing about how to find God’s will for your life, the Apostle Paul says that we must first change our thinking by renewing our minds.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God Romans 12:1 NIV.

The process of renewing your mind involves a principle called dying to yourself. There are several verses in the Bible that talk about dying to the sinful nature or “old self” and allowing God to live through us. This is a necessary process for transforming your life. However, it is also a very misunderstood principle. Satan wants to get us to take this to the extreme and believe that we must die to all the heart desires and plans that we have. The truth is, dying to ourselves does not mean that we cannot have any desires or ideas of our own. If that were the case you would become a robot for God. God wants us to be his sons and daughters and to have authority on the earth. God created the earth and we are created in His image. Therefore, we all have the ability to be co-creators to expand His Kingdom on earth.

God wants to give us good things that we want and desire once our motives are right. It is no wonder that so many people don’t know their destiny; it may be because they have died to any desire they may have once had.

Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart Psalm 37:4 NIV.

Dying to yourself means that your heart has the right intentions. Not all of our desires are necessarily from God. Quite often God will give us a passion or strong desire to fulfill something in our lives. Passion is important because it brings about a divinely inspired drive to accomplish things for God.

The Remedy: God’s Good Intentions for You

A really great thing about God is that He sees us as who we are becoming through His love and power. As He looks at our lives, He knows our past, understands our present, and can see us in the future, all at the same time. His love, mercy, and grace are unfathomable. Imagine the possibilities if we could see ourselves the same way that God sees us. Much of the time we are not able to see our purpose and destiny with much clarity, so we are required to rely on faith. The principle of faith allows us to trust that there is something special and unique for us, even if our experiences have been the opposite. Sometimes there is great resistance or even setbacks before we are able to get into the fullness of God’s desires for us.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 NIV.

We need to be certain of the fact that God has nothing but good intentions for us, even though we may not see them yet. You’ll see this in this powerful biblical principle:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV.

These are God’s intentions for us. His plans are to prosper us, to give us hope and a future. If you read on, you’ll see the benefits of grasping this.

Then [after you discover God’s plans for you] you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart Jeremiah 29:12–13 NIV.

We must see what God is doing in our lives and work with Him to bring it about. It’s time to take a stand against what Satan has in mind for us and come into line with God’s wonderful intentions for us.

If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; but when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed Proverbs 29:18 The Message.

Our Identity is in Christ
The foundation of my life is this: in Christ, I am a new creation, and all the old thoughts and behaviors no longer have power over me. I am being renewed every day with God’s love and character. I share in God’s divine nature because God’s Spirit lives in me. I am free from condemnation and have the strength to live my life free of despairing thoughts and the competing desires of my flesh. I am God’s workmanship, created to do good works, which God has prepared ahead of time for me to accomplish. I am more than a conqueror through God who loves me. I have a clear mind and can make good decisions. I am increasing daily in faith, strength, wisdom, and love. I am able to love others because God has first loved me.

This year has been full of ups and downs and a major amount of transition. For me personally it has also held some of the most exciting encounters with God that I have ever experienced. During the biggest downturn economically and some of the absolute toughest times for us financially, God’s presence and power has increased.

Sometimes it may appear as if God’s prophetic promises over our lives are always dangling just out of our reach. Right when we make some headway, there seems to be more warfare, obstacles and even setbacks. Reality is that God does not want to promote us prematurely because with every promotion and advancement comes more responsibility. He will often run us through a test season to see how well we will do with the new authority and anointing He has in mind for us. I went through one of these testing times this year and I got a taste of a new level of prophetic authority that I have not experienced before.

It was not just my prophetic gift that increased; it was a new ability to see God’s will for a situation, individual or a church and work interactively with God’s Heavenly resources of angels and the Holy Spirit to bring it about. Sounds exciting right? Did I mention that there was a greater level of rejection too?

We are stepping into a time of heavenly interaction. Angelic encounters are currently on the increase as God is releasing assignments to angels to work hand-in-hand with the Holy Spirit and other Christians to bring about a radical change for our lives. I am seeing this interaction take place in nearly every meeting I have been part of over the past few months. The interesting part of it is that the angels are coming with specific assignments that are aligning many people up to fulfill a greater purpose in the Kingdom of God.

2010 is a year of fresh new beginnings for many people. Several miraculous turnarounds will begin to happen in the first few months that will add new meaning to the word “spring”. It is a time to change our outlook to the positive promises of God. It will be a year of taking things to the bank, getting out of debt, starting new businesses, ministries, and fulfilling our purpose on a greater level. Like any new move of God you can miss out on it if you are not looking for it.

Prophetic Word: “Set your sights to the direction that God has called you. Make preparations and your advancement that is coming will not be delayed. Make plans and lay the foundation to the new things that I am calling you to. Do not hold back, you will see an increase that will start small and overtake you like a wave. Leave doubt, unbelief, striving, and past hurts behind. This New Year will truly bring a new day.”

Over the past few months I have received quite a bit of revelation about a new season coming to many people that was starting in September and October of 2009 and continuing through the New Year. I keep hearing over and over that this is the time of new beginnings and new opportunities.

Similar to being pregnant
When God begins something new in our lives sometimes it can be similar to a baby taking nine months to birth. It takes time to grow and develop the new thing from God in our lives. I can look back in my life and see many examples of when I heard God speak to me clearly about a change in my life. Then when the change actually takes place, it is oftentimes close to a nine month period. In April of 2008 I was living in Moravian Falls, North Carolina and I was speaking at several churches in the Central Coast of California. God spoke to me clearly that we would be moving to that area and be part of something new He was going to do. Through a series of events and without making it happen on my own, we relocated to Santa Maria, California nine months later in January 2009. After arriving in Santa Maria, nothing really seemed to be happening. Then after nine months, in September, I had two major angelic visitations and God spoke to me more clearly about our next steps and plans for why we moved. Just as a baby is hidden during the nine month pregnancy period, quite often God will hide us for a season.

Satan comes before a new move of God
A principle that most people miss in the Bible is that most times that God does something new in our lives; Satan will come just prior to it to get us discouraged and to cause us to give up before the break through. David gets anointed by Samuel to be king of Israel, and then he is pursued and nearly killed by Saul. Jesus receives the Holy Spirit to begin His ministry on earth, and immediately He is taken into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. Saul (Apostle Paul) has a dramatic conversion on the road to Damascus, and then he is greatly opposed to the point that he has to run for his life. These are just a few cases of a theme that runs throughout the entire Bible.

God will often call us to something new; then it seems that all hell breaks loose and it appears that the opposite of what we heard from God begins to happen. The fact is that the reason God spoke to us to begin with was to strengthen us to be able to walk through the storm and know that He is still with us no matter what it looks like. God spoke to me that something radically new was coming to me and many people after September of this year. During the month of September I received some incredible revelation and visitations from God, then in October things began to look the completely opposite. I have been watching this pattern for some time now, so I was not thrown for a loop. The best way to handle this is to continue to move forward with the last thing that you heard from God and pay little attention to the distractions from Satan.

New plans, strategies, ministries, gifts, anointing, miracles, businesses and relationships are on their way. The key is to not give up. Satan and the forces of darkness really don’t want you to get what is coming. You will receive what you are looking for. If you are looking to God for the new things and you endure the storm, it will transpire in your life. If you begin to doubt and give up on what God has promised you, then there is a good chance that it will not come to you at the level that God had intended or it may be delayed.

Jesus is protecting our promises
I had a dream on November 17 that the enemy was coming to steal away the promises God had made to me and many others. I ran to the ocean and when I got there the ocean appeared to be dried up, even though there was still plant life and animals. As I stood wondering what to do, Jesus himself, clothed in a purple and crimson robe, walked up to me. I told him that the enemy was trying to steal away what had been promised to us. Without saying a word, He used His right hand to take something from deep inside of me and placed it in what looked like an ancient iron cage in the shape of a sphere (the size of a basketball). He locked it, kept the key and tossed it a few feet away onto the floor of the ocean. I was thinking to myself that he could have at least hidden it a little better. As I looked there were many of these ball-shaped cages lying all over the place, and I knew they were the promises of others that Jesus was now protecting and placing them where they needed to be.

This dream is a confirmation that what God has promised to us will come. The fact that the ocean “appeared” to be dry but still had life is symbolic of a coming move from God that is nearing but not here yet. It was not like a wilderness that had no life. Our promises from God are being placed in a safe place so that they will be picked up by the next wave of the Holy Spirit. It is similar to a chessboard; God is strategically placing us where we need to be for this next season.

Isaiah 41:10 NIV
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

On September 8, 2009, I had a night vision in which I was taken to an aerial view of various parts of the world. I was shown vast landscapes of lush grasslands that were teeming with new life. I could see exotic plants and trees and I knew in my spirit that what I was seeing was a new move from God that had come upon the earth to bring about a radical revival. Suddenly, a massive wave of destruction came upon the greenery. The whole scene was consumed and only a barren wasteland was left in its place. I watched in shock and felt disappointed and distressed at what I had witnessed. Then the audible voice of God spoke to me in the vision and said, “I released something new from Heaven but my people were not ready for it, so I had to bring a wilderness time to purge things that were not of me.”

As I woke from the experience a very strong presence of God was in my bedroom. The Holy Spirit spoke to me that God planned the start of something new in 2005 that would bring about a new level of anointing. This new level was intended to awaken a new revival. But because we were not ready for it, He changed it into a wilderness time instead. From 2005–2009 many people struggled through a major time of purging, testing, and realignment. Wilderness experiences from God are necessary in order to refine and prepare us.

Hosea 2:14–15 NIV
“Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her. There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope … ”

God released many promises to the Church in 2005. Some promises have been delayed and are now being released. Our ministry was located in Los Angeles around that time. We were gathering the resources and people to start a training and outreach center near Hollywood. We had been given a sizable grant to support the work when in 2005 it was though every door closed for us. We eventually gave the grant back and moved to Moravian Falls, North Carolina. We were literally placed in the wilderness (we lived in the woods of North Carolina) and we experienced a very difficult time for three years, including a very limited amount of influence and favor. Then in 2009, we were suddenly sent back to the West Coast to start a training center—this time in Santa Maria, California.

We are now in a time of realignment and restarting. Many prophetic words and promises got sidetracked or delayed, and some are now void because of the sudden switch in the spirit. If you have gone through difficult and unclear times over the past few years, this may very well be the reason why. Had God allowed the new movement to come in the condition we were in, it may have destroyed us. We saw several examples of that over the past couple of years as many leaders fell away from their callings or were entangled in sin. 

A time of awakening
Throughout the month of September, I kept hearing a line from a song on the radio, “Wake me up when September ends.” This is very much like the call going out from God right now—He will be waking many of his people up in the month of October. This is the time to press in to God and ask Him for more clarity. We will all see some type of answered prayer during this month. You will need to watch for it. Those who are not paying attention may miss this fresh time of God’s visitation. God is visiting our situations, our families, jobs, relationships, and ministries, and a trumpet blast is going out to call people to awaken! We will see some strange events in the months to come and a massive amount of sudden changes and turnarounds. If we stay centered on God, we will not be shaken.

Check for yourself—think back and look at the year 2005 and see if anything unusual happened. Were you going one direction when things switched and seemed to dry up? As I have asked people this question, I am hearing story after story of how God had either made a promise that didn’t seem to work out, or some even saw a new move of God start that suddenly got cut off.

This is what I believe God is saying, “Just as suddenly as things changed and were cut off in 2005, I am now renewing and reviving situations—suddenly! I am parting the Red Sea once again and making the impossible possible. Watch me and give me glory as your life and ministry are restored and renewed in this very hour.”

Prayer: “God, awaken us to what you are doing in our lives right now. Give us eyes to see and ears that can hear what you are doing. Amen.”
