An average everyday
Saturday afternoon at the mall. We asked God to show us
people who needed His touch. Read what happened!

I was in Orlando this leading the Dream Team outreach at the Florida Mall during the Winds of Fire Conference sponsored by Bridge
Builders International and The Elijah List. Phil Zaldatte of Streams Ministries
and I held a prophetic evangelism workshop on Friday (a.k.a. “Phil & Doug’s Most
Excellent Prophetic Adventure”). Then on Saturday afternoon we led a team of 45
people into the mall for “Holy Spirit divine encounters”.

Several of our groups gathered at tables in the Food Court and started interpreting each other’s dreams. Then, turning to the curious
eavesdroppers, they said, “We’re practicing dream interpretations. Do you have a
dream we can try”? I was totally stoked when my team approached our first table
and asked if we could interpret a dream. The people at the table just happened
to be talking about a dream, and they were wondering what it meant. We gave the
woman the meaning and she was so touched and open that we led her to the Lord in
front of her two friends.

Another team went out and took a “prophetic stroll” down the mall. They walked around praying until the Lord spoke to them about a
person. The Lord said to go and sit next to a guy who looked lonely. Within
minutes he was revealing his feelings of emptiness and they prayed with him.
Feeling a little more confident, they moved on to the next person that the Holy
Spirit pointed out to them and he received the Lord after having a dream
interpreted!

One particular group from our team had a sensation of “hot tingling hands” as we started the event so I instructed them to look for sick
people. They made a bee-line to a lady with a withered hand who was also walking
with a limp. All they had to say to her was that they felt God was telling them
to pray for her to be healed. As they prayed, her withered hand opened and her
foot straightened! She was so excited at the power of God that she received
Jesus on the spot.

Our outreaches are normally low key and we had not been seeing too many salvations but that is beginning to change. We view evangelism
as a process and we look for people whom we can “nudge” closer to God. To our
surprise there were 14 people who came to Jesus over the weekend!

This was just another Saturday afternoon at the mall where hundreds of hurting, lonely people go to kill time or to shop to try to make
themselves feel better. A handful of people who were not bold evangelists
nervously took a walk down the mall and asked God to show them who needed a
touch. Imagine what would happen if we got intentional and began trusting the
Holy Spirit to guide us to people that need the Lord!

Prophetic Evangelism puts a new spin on reaching people with the love of God. We don’t pass out tracts or Bibles. We simply ask God for
a specific word for someone and give it to them, or we tell them the true
meaning of a dream. I believe that this type of outreach is the next “renewal”
of evangelism. Unlike the typical conference where people sit and listen to a
speaker (we did that too), the Lord wants to start using conferences to
“jump-start” people’s gifts and to display His power in the streets. We are
noticing that each time we go out the power of God is increasing.
