What is Your Life Season?

Four Season TreeWhat is Your Life Season?

Doug Addison

Why is it that we have times in our lives when we are growing and everything seems to flow well, then other times everything seems to dry up and die? We all go through life seasons. They are necessary for us to grow both emotionally and spiritually.

There are Life Seasons or periods of time that we all go through to bring us into spiritual maturity. Different than stages of maturity, life seasons are more situational. When you think of it, we don’t really grow during times of blessing and success. As we look back on the more difficult times, we can see that it is in those times that we grew the most. These are similar to the seasons of the year, but they can happen at any time in your life or on the calendar. You don’t have to go through them in any particular order.

Spring— A time of new growth. Change has happened recently and things are being renewed.

Summer— A time of fun and blessing. It’s like a mountain-top experience. We don’t usually grow during these times, and we cannot live there. But summer times keep us going.

Autumn— This is a transition time when things begin to dry up and die. Old habits and behaviors start fading away. It starts out looking pretty, but quickly changes. You are moving from one major season to another.

Winter— Everything is dormant and times are difficult. It is not easy to hear God or know the direction to go. This season is a test to strengthen your faith. This may also be known as a wilderness time.

Notice that many people in the Bible went through times of distress. Moses lived as a shepherd in the desert for forty years. David had to hide so that Saul would not kill him. Jesus went into the wilderness to be tempted by satan for forty days. It is good to recognize the season you are in. Usually wilderness times are to get you out of your own agenda and into God’s desire for you. It is designed to change your focus to be more like God’s.

Most people think they need to stay in the wilderness or a difficult time. This is not true at all. God does not want you to suffer but He does want you to learn and mature. You can shorten this wilderness time by recognizing the lesson that God wants you to learn and responding appropriately.

Some seasons are unavoidable or out of your control. Going through a difficult time of loss for instance is out of your control. But how long you stay there can be within your control. Yes, grief is real and has to be dealt with and worked through. It is different for each person.

So what season of life are you in right now? What can you learn from your previous seasons? If you have been in a difficult time for a while, ask God to show you what the root is and get an exit strategy!

Enjoy the ride!

Blessings,

doug-sig

I love this! I am in two different seasons in my life right now. In my family and marriage, we are in a summer. After four years of grueling winter and a trying yet fruitful spring, we can enjoy our relationships. In our finances we are in a full blown winter. But the nice thing about winter, spring is just around the corner. God is Good!

seasons come and seasons go spent over a year in a season of winter. but now the spring has come and as with any plants there is some pruning so that the plant can grow bigger. and times of transplanting because the plant just does not belong where it started out at and needs to be moved. just as the plants are bursting through the ground. so is the beginning of spring, so is my season right now. even in time of pruning and transplanting I am singing praises to His name. For what happens in the natural I know is happening in the Supernatural.

The season that I am in, I believe is Springtime. I am in a time of things becoming new. So I know also in this time that I still have to press, believe, and confess until manifestation comes.

I have been in winter for a LONG time. To be honest I don’t like the hard times! They are hard. Yes, I have grown but I am so ready for a different season. When I get into the other seasons I will probably look back and be thankful for winter. But I’m not really today. I like the fruit but I don’t like the pain to get it. Oy Vey.

Thank you so much for these blog posts. I’ve been going through a winter season too… but even while it was one of the roughest times and I had to pull back from a lot, God still allowed me to press through for things to flourish and grow around me… even though I got to a place where I wanted to give up everything… being honest with God about where you’re at and how you feel is super helpful. Thank God He knows and loves us and sees our springtime and summers coming!!!! I think the theme song I hear for winter is “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming!” (Dory, Finding Nemo. .. lol). Eventually you really do start to see spring emerge, Praise God!!!!! 🙂 <3

Thankful for the insight in this word. God bless you. I feel like I am at a season where rhe Lord is re-aligning things to bring order and purposes and I am excited. Been through an extended wilderness and thankful for the lessons learnt. David said in Psalms 119:67 that before I was afflicted I went astray but now I keep your law.

I feel like I am going through a time of fall and spring at the same time. The Lord is cutting off old habits and at the same time doing new things. The cutting out the old is giving place for the new to come in.
