Miracles and Mistakes on My Way Back to KoЯn | Doug Addison with Brian “Head” Welch [Episode 15]

Do you know anyone who struggles with addictions? Have you been wounded by parents … or been bullied or even suicidal? Hope and freedom are waiting for you!

My special guest in this week’s Spirit Connection podcast has lived all the above. Brian “Head” Welch, of the metal band KoЯn, was a successful rock star in the stranglehold of drug addiction until a radical encounter with God changed his life forever.

Brian still tours the world sharing his radical story and simple message: God will love you into the freedom of being yourself, as long as you keep the relationship going and never, ever quit.

Whether you’re feeling hopeless or are “living your dream” but still feel empty inside, you won’t want to miss hearing Brian’s story in this podcast!

In this episode, we talk about miracles, music and what to do when you keep messing up. Brian also answers these frequent questions and more:

  • How intense was your struggle with drugs?
  • Why did you quit the band?
  • What was your wild encounter with God?
  • Why did you finally rejoin KoЯn?
  • How do your fans react to your Christianity?
  • What about Christians who feel judged because of tattoos and piercings?
  • How are you concerts different now that you know Jesus personally?

I have way too much that I could say about this interview blessing multitudes now and for the days, weeks, months and years to come, so the Holy Spirit asked me to publicly agree with the prayer that Brian prayed to give it an extra push! “God, I am in agreement with heaven and every word that Brian prayed and we thank YOU that your answer is YES and AMEN to ALL things in Jesus. Amen!” Deliverance is coming so powerful to testify to the underestimated value of what God means when He says that it is THROUGH GRACE that you have been saved! Go and be gracious to others so that they too, can be saved by my KINDNESS!

It’s Amazing how much I needed to hear this, it’s as if I woke up from my nightmare last night and much of the circumstances that were in my dream was touched on by Brian. I have struggled with drugs since the age of 12, I am now 37. I’ve been off illicit drugs since the birth of our daughter 9 yrs ago, but I still have issues with my prescriptions. Something Brian said, ‘ I am not comfortable unless I am on my medicine ‘. My entire life has been a struggle to make sure that I don’t feel. Though I am married with 2 children, live in a beautiful home, and own a successful business, I am rarely at peace inside. My life was never “supposed to be ” anything else but prison and an early death. (According to my parents and Family members. Which was a safe assumption, because I was truly inviting death to do it’s thing…. 7 years ago I went to a Church with a friend and the second I walked in God pulled out all of the fear and resentment from deep within. I was crying uncontrollably but it was a relief to feel . My true life started that day. The past two years I have been in a really painful season, feeling disconnected from the God, Church and even my family.
Brian, thank you for sharing your testimony, I really believe God had EVERYTHING to do with me being able to see this in my email. Testimonials of God’s Love and Abilities to create beauty out of sadness is ALWAYS powerful! It’s relational and that is how He created us. Keep it up brother, you have done more for the children of God than many who hold titles in a Church. God bless you, and God bless Doug Addison and his ministry.

One of the best conversations I’ve heard so far; very close to what I’m doing and have been doing till now though with far less popularity. I believe I have one of the naturally less religious mindsets I’ve come across and am thoroughly interested in learning of Brian “Head” Welch’s experiences in breaking religious mindsets. Thank u so much, Doug Add., u’re priceless for me

Ahhh!!! This jewel of a man…, I friggin love his heart, and what I love the most is that he does not get caught up in the hype, He is not drawing value from his platform but from His savior. So many people in Church platforms are drawing value from their “gifting” or “ministry”, they become rockstars in the church and then we see them fall apart, because they are not conformed to the Love of God but too impressed with their gifting; sadly, their hearts are not rooted and grounded in Love, but this rockstar became like Jesus. He is secure in his identity in Him, We need more believers that know who they are, and release the raw love of Jesus to a world that is bankrupt in love. I love this human.

Doug, my brother and nephew are in jail for drugs right now. I know this podcast was sent from the heart of God for me and my Mom to give us hope and, I mean this, our daily Bread. We have been right at this same place many times but THIS time it just feels like we are going to see some kind of breakthrough. Hearing Brian again helps me believe and hold on to the fact that “Jesus is pursuing my brother & nephew”. Thanks for having Brian on today. Bless you both forgoing after the wounded! Love and hugs to you guys and all who minister with you!!
