Two People Your Destiny Needs to Succeed

How confident do you feel when it comes to the journey to pursue your destiny?

I have found that most people already have what they need to either get started or take the next step in their destiny. They just need encouragement, support or directions to move forward.

[Tweet “Having an accountability partner and a mentor can create a 3-strand cord that is not easily broken!”]

There are two types of people who can help you reach your destiny!

Find an accountability partner

You may need some outside help to keep you motivated in your journey. After all, we all need people who join hands with us and encourage us in our destiny.

Accountability partners are a popular idea but have often been misunderstood as people we merely confess our wrongs to. But what should an accountability partner actually be responsible for?

Accountability is made up of two words: account + ability. An accountability partner is a peer who takes an account—makes a record—of your ability and helps hold you to it!

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 NIV

This means an accountability partner is more than just a friend you share your struggles with. It is someone you can trust to help you stick to a plan of action, isn’t afraid to ask you if you’re really giving it your all and can help you get up if you fall!

[Tweet “All your life, God has been leaving you clues about your uniqueness.”]

Consider finding a mentor

While an accountability partner is more of a like-minded peer, a mentor is someone who—while also keeping you accountable—can show you how to go farther than your current understanding.

A mentor should be a few steps ahead of you in maturity and action so they can show you the way to new heights and levels of your destiny!

As the apostle Paul said:

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1 NIV

The author of Hebrews encourages us to:

Remember your leaders, those who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Hebrews 13:7 NIV

A 3-strand cord is not easily broken

Having an accountability partner and a mentor can create a 3-strand cord that is not easily broken!

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12 NIV

All your life, God has been leaving you clues about your uniqueness. Finding accountability partner(s) and/or a mentor may be the next step to positioning yourself for your destiny.

Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.
Proverbs 15:22 NIV

It’s time to awaken to unlimited possibilities!

Blessings!

How does one find a mentor willing to be one?

I have sought those who would/could be in those roles from first entering the church 12 years ago. Not a churched person caused the arms length treatment of all who apparently do not believe God actually means all of what He said. Fear Not and we Minister One To Another.
I do it for others and then the warfare begins, it is a vicious cycle of doubt and unbelief and all I want is to remain In Christ and find those I am evenly yoked with that are living their lives for God and not themselves (only), in front of Him fully accountable believing He Is Omnipresent, Omniscient, Holy.
So we must all forgive and grow In Christ and I am evenly yoked with my mentor The Holy Spirit and grafted in to The God Head. I would very much like to find real human Christians to do the Christian experience with.

Thank you for sharing Mae. I love how you said, ” I am evenly yoked with my mentor The Holy Spirit and grafted in to The God Head.” What a beautiful picture and truth to meditate on. God bless you!

    Hi Doug,

This was sooo very timely I was making a deicsion accumulating to mentorship/ accoutnability ( but it was very unusual mentorship/accountability) I felt like God wanted me to invest into. I was so nervous but at the same time I felt like God gave me signs of it to go for it a lot! But then, I still did not want to. Before my phone call to initiate mentorship 5 minutes before I saw this post the same day and you attaching the word of God to mentor-ship.

I have one question though. For this mentorship to happen, I have to pay these people a lot of money monthly basis. But I think about it, and a lot of prominent Christians make us pay for mentorship. Is it okay biblically?
I ask because I’ve been recently reading this:____.

Hey Subin! I deleted the link you attached because we do not allow other links on this site since we do not know where they are coming from.

Often times we do need to pay for mentoring/coaching because the person doing it is pouring our their time and resources. We do not see anything wrong with charging for this because it takes a lot time and effort on their end.

Often times though, churches may have a discipleship program that is free.

If you do not want to do that mentorship program you are talking about, then keep talking to God about it. Don’t rely only on signs but listen to what God is speaking to your heart. I am praying now for you to be guided to the right mentor.

    Attn: Doug Addison
I greatly appreciated your offer of group mentoring with you but what I need is a personal mentoring session (i hr or the like) with you. Your webcasts, podcasts, blogs and other workshops or books have been marvellous for me and very formative but a lot of what you say has been known of me – and practised – for years. I’m sorry you can’t accept what I feel I need now and wanted to explain why I didn’t accept your offer of mentoring session. You are in my eyes one of the best prophetic persons, authors I know and so close to what the Lord showed me these past 30 years that it was a rest to follow you. Few people have understood the present movement of the Lord as you have. Thanks again for your incredible insight for our times

I read your prophetic daily post for today. The abortion issue is highly prominent and we the body of Christ have the authority to stop it in the spirit realm. Matthew 18:18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven.” Matthew‬ ‭18:18‬ ‭AMPC‬‬ God has given us His Word (Isaiah 59:21) that we can decree and declare, and He’s given us the authority to do so. And He promises to fulfill His Word. We don’t fulfill His Word. He does. (Ezekiel 22:14; Isaiah 55:11) All we do is partner with Him and speak His Word. He created us in His image and likeness and as such we speak things into existence but we must speak HIS Word, not our own words or the problem or the evil etc. We must speak His Word over all issues in this earthly realm to see His Kingdom manifested here as it is in heaven, but especially in regards to slaughtering innnocent unborn lives. As we speak His Word, the King of Glory mighty in battle will destroy the evil throughout the earth and beyond. (Psalm 24:7-10)
