Who Will Hold You Up When You Get Tired?

Are you feeling a bit battle weary?

Maybe God has called you to do something extraordinary, but you’re starting to feel weighted down by responsibilities, choices, the unknown, etc.

Moses was a great leader in the Bible, but he was surrounded by advisors and friends who helped him do the work.

Here’s what the Bible has to say about good friends:

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity. Proverbs 17:17 NIV

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 NIV

It’s sometimes easy to think we’re in this all on our own, but it’s important not to isolate ourselves from a supportive community!

We can take a few lessons from Moses’ life when choosing who to surround ourselves with.

God will send people to co-labor with you

When God spoke to Moses and told him to set the Israelites free from Pharaoh’s rule, Moses was nervous because he did not speak well.

Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”
Exodus 4:10 NIV

So, God teamed up Moses and his brother Aaron to fulfill His purpose!

He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him. Exodus 4:16 NIV

Remember that God has a plan, and He will work with you to get it accomplished!
Even though God originally intended for Moses to do His own speaking, He was not inflexible!

God simply adjusted His strategy to include Aaron to support Moses.

Sometimes we need others to hold us up!

After the Israelites were freed, they had a long journey ahead of them filled with battles and supernatural provision from the Lord.

At one point, they became at war with the Amalekites and Moses had a special job to do to ensure a victory:

As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. Exodus 17:11 NIV

Take a moment to imagine what it would have felt like for Moses to hold his hands up as the battle went on and on. It must have been exhausting!

Moses needed help fulfilling the mission and that’s exactly what happened next:

When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. Exodus 17:12 NIV

Sometimes we need our loved ones to hold us up when we get tired! Think about and make a mental list of the people you can you count on to help hold you up when you get tired.

Will God give you more than you can handle?

Ever heard that saying, “God will never give you more than you can handle?”
I’d like to adjust that by asserting, God may give you more than you can handle on your own.”

When God gives you a vision, it often involves and requires other people to make it happen! So, don’t be afraid of how you’re going to accomplish your calling on your own. Instead, ask God to reveal your co-laborers, friends, helpmates, etc.

Keep your eyes open for new divine partnerships to be revealed!

Blessings,

This article is defiantly onetime. I believe God is calling us to do great things, things we have never seen or thought of before, even things beyond our own budget and we need people to assist along the journey. This article is confirmation!

I live in Colorado Springs and have been praying for godly community for a long time. I’m believing that now He will bring together the whole hearted believers to contend for truth and stand against compromise and apostasy.

    Doug!!! That is everything that I have been telling my prayer partner in California! And that is also what I am beginning to see happen!! My colaberer and I knew we weren’t crazy though the circumstances pointed in the direction of insanity!!! Lol!! I never heard of you till recently. And my heart leaped inside my chest when I saw you are a comedian too!!! I cried because I knew God made me funny, naturally, but I was a Bit hesitant to prepare to burst into the forefront with the comedic tool to disarm God’s children into HIS REALITY THRU PROPHETIC HUMOR! I would tease Kris Vallaton that I was funnier than him! We ALL should get together and do a prophetic comedy tour!!!!! Blessings brother in Arms;
