How Negative Emotions Can Be Used for Good

Can’t figure out how to stop the flow of negative emotions?

I have something that may help. I’ve been a prophetic life coach for many years, and one of the first habit changes I suggest for the people I coach is a very simple one: Flip it and flip it good!

It’s a way of encouraging people to look for the good in every situation, but it can be easier said than done. Here are a few practical examples of negative emotions you can flip for good starting today!

Turn frustration into motivation.

A common obstacle I’ve noticed people struggle with when they’re trying to walk out their life-purpose is that they just can’t seem to muster up the motivation to do it.

They know God has a big plan for their life, or they know they have a specific goal—like losing weight, writing a book, making a career move, getting a better job, etc. They just can’t seem to take that first step or stay consistent.

In fact, all they feel is frustrated.

And many times, when people are frustrated, they end up making poor decisions because they just have to do something with that feeling. But that’s exactly it! Frustration is kind of like motivation in that it makes you want to move.

Ask God to help you “flip it and flip it good!”

Take that frustration and flip it into motivation to finally change your life for the better.

Jealousy reveals what’s hidden.

Have you ever had a friend get a promotion in their job, and you feel a little twinge in your heart? You know you’re actually happy for them, but you still can’t get over the slight feeling of jealousy.

Instead of beating yourself up about it, try this. Ask yourself what it is about this situation that makes you feel like you want it, too.

You don’t actually want your friend’s job, and it’s not that you’re upset that they have good things happening in their life. Jealousy came up because it revealed a hidden desire of your own heart.

[Tweet “Jealousy can sometimes come up, not because you want what the other person has, but because it is revealing a hidden desire of your heart.”]

And God wants to give us those desires!

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 NIV

If you feel jealous about something, delight in God! Ask God to reveal to you what it is that you actually desire. Like in the example above, maybe you want a promotion, or a better job, or something good to happen in your life, too!

Whatever it is, be honest about your desire and ask God to reveal the good things He has in store for you.

Boredom means you know something needs to change.

Maybe you’re feeling like everything is the same-old-same-old. You’re starting to feel bored with your life and have this deep sense that you were made for something more.

Boredom is usually the result of the lack of focus or challenge. Your feelings of boredom are simply reminding you to wake up! Life is happening all around you, and you don’t want to let it pass you by!

Flip boredom for good by letting it remind you that you haven’t switched things up in a while! Take it as permission to try a new restaurant, go on vacation, read different types of books or watch different movies, make a new friend … the possibilities are endless!

You might be surprised just how quickly breakthrough happens when you start flipping these negative emotions for the good stuff!

Give the “flip it and flip it good” technique a try, and then come back and let me know what happens.

Blessings,

Lord kept saying Renaissance 3x outloud for me to hear. Started studying that time period and we have become like those living omg that day and our countries experiencing famine, economic decline, so much destruction and splitting of churches. Many rejecting God, don’t care about others, and want advancement while relying on themselves. What is Jesus telling you abt Renaissance if you could share with me
