Healing in the Father’s Heart of Love

God is moving in a new way that will help people get healed of tough love and zero tolerance experiences. The Lord is bringing restoration of the Father’s love to help children, of all ages, hear the Lord and know the Father’s heart of love for them.

This will also help bring healing to any wounds you might have gotten from parental figures or leaders in your life.

The Lord is healing the wounds of the fathers and mothers. He is moving on children of all ages. I hope this message helps you, there is healing coming to those who were not treated well or not supported.

Healing the mess we are in

As we move towards healing the mess the world is in, we need to take responsibility for our assignment on Earth.

Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most excellent way. 1 Corinthians 12:31 NIV

What is the most excellent way? The context of this verse is right before the opening of the famous 1 Corinthians 13 passage on love. We need to take responsibility to bring healing to relationships and find the way of love—God’s love.

Tough love or zero tolerance

Many might have been raised in a hostile environment whether physical, emotional or spiritually hostile to the Lord.

Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them. Proverbs 13:24 NIV

Tough love can be backed up by some Bible verses, and many parents and leaders think they are doing the right thing. What they might not realize is that though the Bible supports this, Jesus said many times, “Do not hinder the children from coming to Him.”

Tough love—or not having grace—can cause more damage than you might think. Anything that causes children to be wounded or hinders them from experiencing love is a serious violation of Scripture.

It is the difference between a horse whisperer and those who use a stick.

According to Jesus, the greatest commandment is to love God, love yourself and love others. Let me show you a more excellent way—Love!

Doug’s Story

I have had a call of God on my life, and I can remember prophetic dreams at ages 4 and 5. My family fell under hardship and moved over 10 times before I was 7. At age 6 (1965), a Pentecostal neighbor laid hands on me and prophesied “This boy is going to be a great preacher of the Lord.”

My older brother was so jealous of me; he beat and molested me for years. I was also bullied terribly by the neighbor kids and at school for being different.

My mother and father, and later my stepfather, never hit me and were kind to me. But I suffered great abuse and persecution over my calling that delayed me getting into ministry. It was not until 1991, at age 32, that I preached my first sermon in a homeless mission in San Francisco.

I suffered so much even after that when my family came to the Lord and then was tipped out by cancer and Huntington’s disease (HD). In 2001, I was healed of all the symptoms of HD and started InLight Connection.

Tough Love

Because of my past, I was operating in a spirit of perfectionism. I was not physically abusive, but I was very hard on people who worked for me. I used tough love on my daughter until I got this revelation. If you ever worked for me or knew me then, and I hurt you—please forgive me.

My staff and the InLight Connection team can attest to this. I got a revelation of the Father’s heart for love and instead of tough love, I started practicing grace.  Now, I am Doug 3.0—I got an upgrade!

Heart of the Father

As fathers, mothers, older siblings or leaders, we need to be careful that we are not inadvertently hindering people from coming to the love of Jesus and understanding that the Father is not mad at them.

Instead, we need to say to them: “The Lord loves you and is proud of you!

It is time to enter in to this new season of restoration of the Father’s Heart, that is coming to the world in June 2021.

Blessings,

Doug Addison

Thanks, Doug for sharing. I have a similar experience I was rejected by my parents at the end of second grade when my second-grade teacher told my parents that I was retarded and would never graduate high school and never go to college. After a major head injury, I was able to finish college and get a Master of Divinity degree. I felt I was left to raise myself while my parents put all their energy into raising my bother and left me to find for myself. My dad was a server disciplining person. I also am on a similar path on finding the Father”s love. His love has radically changed my life!!!
