In this special excerpt, Doug Addison is back from sabbatical and ministering to the Partners. He answers three questions.
Below are some notes from our Partners-only Monthly Mentoring Session. These sessions have been recorded and you can access them in full by becoming a Partner today! Find out more at DougAddison.com/Give.
Partner question: My life is difficult due to complications in my family. Do you have insight on how to navigate family conflict?
Doug’s answer: Well, it’s not easy and I’m sorry you’re going through it. It’s the hardest thing. Jesus talks about it… He talks about the house. A house that is divided is hard, but you have to look at the whole picture of things. Focus on the goodness of the Lord each day, and not the conflict.
Jesus said that a house divided against itself will not stand. But Paul went on to say later that if you’re with a believer or with someone who’s not a believer, stay with it if you can. I’m not saying to stay in abusive situations. But there is a big release right now of hope, restoration and angels.
Maybe it’s a conflict within yourself, your family or your house, and I’m sorry, first of all. My heart goes out to you, and it’s not easy, but the easy thing is to stay focused on the Lord. Even in the little bits, stay focused on the Lord each day.
Partner question: My friend lost a house to the California fires. When they asked why, I didn’t know how to answer. How should I have responded?
Doug’s answer: Wow, I don’t know anyone personally… but some of our staff members have friends whose houses have burned down. It’s a complicated question with an easy answer, and God is the God of grace.
The first thing you want to do if you have any losses in your family (any death, any losses, losing your house or anything like that) is connect with the person and say how sorry you are. It may not help the situation, however, it’s a key with the Lord. Do your best to process your anger and grief. Do your best not to be angry at the Lord, because He is a God of free will. He’s not a dictator.
Was it God’s will for you to lose your house or someone to die? No. That’s not God’s will. However, God will use it. It’s not God’s will for us to suffer, but He will use it for the goodness of the Lord.
I’m not giving you a pat answer because it’s not easy. We were praying and we could see the smoke and stuff… and we’re grateful. We had the team praying here in LA. And not only that, it’s not limited to fires, but loss and deaths and things like that. Be sure to process your grief.
Part of the reason why I had to take time off was because of the loss of my sister and brother-in-law. Part of the reason was the spiritual warfare going on in my life. I took time off and we did some things we needed to do. So, I’m not saying it’s easy. Our entire team and Linda and I, we had to just really focus on the Lord, but it’s a good thing because it brought us back into the place of focus, rest and restoration.
And so, when you talk to a friend, the best thing you can do is listen and say you’re sorry. Support the best way you can. The grace of the Lord is here right now, especially for those who’ve had losses.

Partner question: I keep seeing 1:11, 11:11, 2:22, and 4:44 almost daily. Is this part of the seer anointing?
Doug’s answer: All of us have a prophetic gift because the Lord is giving all gifts to all people. And if you’re seeing these numbers… I get a kick out of the fact that you put a clock in front of a prophetic person and the Lord is speaking nonstop.
I see 1:11 as well as 11:11 too. This could be directing your attention to a Bible verse like Deuteronomy 1:11 and He’s going to bless you 1000 times. Or Deuteronomy 11:11 could mean He’s moving you into a new season.
Look up a Bible verse that it might be. When you see 4:44 it could be directing you to Ezekiel 44:4, the glory of the Lord returns to the temple.
Ask the Lord to speak to you. But yes indeed, it’s part of the seer anointing.
But it’s part of all believers. We all have this ability. I like to use a clock and the Bible together and listen to the Lord.
