In the Midst of Your Storm, Be Grateful

In this special excerpt, Doug Addison is back from sabbatical and ministering to the Partners. He gives three key verses for this transitional time.

Below are some notes from our Partners-only Monthly Mentoring Session. These sessions have been recorded and you can access them in full by becoming a Partner today! Find out more at DougAddison.com/Give.

Doug started off the session by sharing some Bible verses with the Partners. He said that the Lord speaks powerfully through the Bible, and all you need is right there … You just need to know where to turn.

Lord, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief. Psalm 143:1 NIV

Doug emphasized, “Lord, hear my prayer. And listen to my cry for mercy, and in Your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.”

He really believes that this is a powerful verse for now. Cry out to the Lord and ask for mercy. This is a cry of our hearts for right now—for mercy triumphs over judgment.

“Lord, hear our prayers and come with your faithfulness to our relief.” This means that the Lord will meet our needs according to his riches and glory in Christ Jesus.

Stay with it! The enemy can come in like a storm, but the Lord will raise up a new standard.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6 NIV

Do not be anxious about anything!

Prayer:

Lord, we pray that You would minister to those who are stressed or have anxiety … Anyone who is walking through those situations. We petition you, Lord, with thanksgiving.

We’re presenting our requests to You. We thank You for Your Word and Your ways. May we get to know You better.

Doug said that many need to pull the Bible back out again and others just need to know the ways of the Lord and trust Him through everything.

No matter what’s happened, God is still in charge. No matter what it looks like or how you feel … It’s all part of our spiritual walk. It will strengthen us.

We’re moving into a new season of new strength on top of hope!

We’ve walked through some difficult times and maybe that’s where you are right now. Stay focused on the Lord and you will be strengthened. With all that’s going on in the world, it’s important to seek the Lord daily.

Doug mentioned that sometimes his quiet times with the Lord are short, and other times they are longer. It just matters that you do something each day. If it’s possible, even just read one verse.

While talking about the Bible verses, Doug added Philippians 1:6. He said that you can pray and decree these verses because the Lord’s doing a new work. He’s doing a good work in you! He will indeed bring about the changes and His purposes.

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6 NIV

Doug mentioned how this is one of his favorite verses. This is a powerful promise for the Lord to do a new thing!

Prayer:

We call upon the Lord right now. We ask that You would open the heavens … That You would meet our needs according to Your riches and glory.

We call this in right now … We ask for Your presence to increase, for Your voice to become clear, for the angels to become apparent and for the attacks of the enemy to cease. We declare “peace, be still” to the storms. Thank you, Lord, for Your goodness.

If you’re not seeing a direct answer right now, don’t think that you’re alone or that you’ve done something wrong. Just stay with it.

Then, Doug took the Partners into another time of prayer …

Let’s just wait a few minutes on the Lord as He continues to minister to us. He’s sending the angels right now. He’s doing things inside of us. Let’s breathe in His presence … Breathe out the old. We just breathe in the new. Thank You, Lord.

Being grateful is a key right now. In the midst of your storms, be grateful.

There’s some shifting going on … We continue to pray for the victims and the accidents going on … the weather patterns and climates.
