Get Victory over Setbacks

In this special excerpt, Doug Addison is back from sabbatical and ministering to the Partners. He releases what the Lord is showing him in this season.

Below are some notes from our Partners-only Monthly Mentoring Session. These sessions have been recorded and you can access them in full by becoming a Partner today! Find out more at DougAddison.com/Give.

Partner question: I’ve been having setback after setback for almost 2 years trying to close on our church property. Is it something I’m not doing, or is there something more I can do?

Doug’s answer: First of all, I’m sorry you’re going through this. When you’re dealing with properties, ministries and churches, sometimes it takes time and there’s warfare involved.

I’d recommend just continuing to raise up agreement in prayer. You can develop a prayer group or chain. Where two or three agree together it will be done and a cord of three strands is not easily broken. One can put 1,000 to flight and two can put 10,000 to fight. So, agree together. Maybe you just need a prayer team like a text team…

I don’t really have a specific prophetic word about this, but I do feel like it’s important to press in and see what will happen.

Partner question: I pray Psalm 91 every evening before I go to bed, but I am still warring in the night. What else do you suggest I do?

Doug’s answer: I pray Psalm 91 as well.

First of all, you’re going through pain, so we just declare healing over all who are warring.

The word this month is that the Lord is with us though an army besiege us. Command things into place!

For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. Psalm 33:9 NIV

Try adding Psalm 33:9 to your bedtime routine. When we’re dealing with healing, sometimes it’s a process and sometimes it’s instant.

Prayer:

Lord, we pray right now for everyone who’s suffering. We thank You, Father, for Your goodness. We thank You that You’re the healer, and we call in the warring angels around us in Jesus’ name.

Sometimes it’s complicated, other times it’s not… But don’t get upset at the Lord, that’s the key.

It’s okay to air everything with the Lord, but you don’t want to cut yourself off from the very flow of life.

Be honest with the Lord, but like the Apostle Paul said, don’t let the sun go down on your anger. You can get upset, but don’t let it step in between you and the Lord.

I’m so glad you’re standing on the Word and reading Psalm 91. Try Psalm 33:9. Command things into place right now in Jesus’ name. Command your solution!

Prayer:

Lord, we pray that You would command everything into place in Jesus’ name.

Partner question: Do you have a particular word from the Lord regarding marriages in this season?

Doug’s answer: The season we’re in is a season of change, and no matter where we are in the world, we’re in a shifting time. We’re in a season of standing and watching as the Lord is moving.

He will indeed move!

Now in the US, we’re in a time of shifting politically and things like that, but no matter where you are, we are in a season of standing.

The Lord is with you right now!

We’re in a time of personal healing… a time of hope, restoration and strength. It’s time to be encouraged and find a way to encourage others and encourage yourself.

The warfare has been intense, but just keep pressing in and focusing on the Lord.

PS: Doug is back from his sabbatical and ready to lead us into an exciting new year of ministry! This is a year full of hope, restoration and renewed focus. Doug will be personally ministering on the Monthly Mentoring Sessions, and we’d love it if you were a part! To find out more about becoming a Partner and joining these meetings, click HERE.
