7 Awesome Benefits of Jesus’ Shed Blood

In this special excerpt, James Goll gives insight into what the sacrifice of Jesus means for us!

Below are some notes from our Partners-only Monthly Mentoring Session. These sessions have been recorded and you can access them by becoming a Partner today! Find out more at DougAddison.com/TimeOff

James started out the session by giving an overview of the New Testament fulfillment of what Jesus, the Lamb of God, did for us.

The first point was about forgiveness. We have been forgiven through the blood of Jesus!

In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Hebrews 9:22 NIV

James then gave a second point: the cleansing power of forgiveness. Our conscience has been cleansed from dead works to be able to serve the living God.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.1 John 1:7

The third point was about redemption. We have been brought out of darkness and we are transferred into light!

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace. Ephesians 1:7 NIV

The fourth point was about justification. When thinking about justification, you can think, “just as if I’d never sinned.”

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! Romans 5:9 NIV

The fifth point was about sanctification. Sanctification means to be set apart.

That means we’re not only forgiven, cleansed, redeemed, brought out of darkness and transferred into light … It’s just as if we’ve never sinned!

We are set apart to a holy calling. We are set apart by the blood of Jesus.

We are sanctified through the blood of Jesus and to a holy calling … out of Satan’s territory.

James gave a sixth point: We have peace!

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Colossians 1:19 – 20 NIV

We were at war, but now we have peace through the blood of Jesus.

James’ seventh point: We have the right to approach! We have access and entrance!

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus. Hebrews 10:19 NIV
