Spirits of Understanding, Counsel and Might

In this special excerpt, Sean Smith shares insight about the Spirits of understanding, counsel and might … and he unpacks some thoughts about capacity and revelation.

Sean started the session by saying that the Spirit of understanding is a divine enablement from Heaven. God grants us a supernatural ability to know, perceive and be instructed on how something should be done.

Wisdom and understanding go together!

The Spirit of wisdom is God revealing insights. The Spirit of understanding is God revealing revelation …

This is when God gives you a revelation of something that you can’t just receive by understanding.

Jesus told His disciples that He had many more things to say to them, but they couldn’t handle it at the time. In other words, it was in His heart to get the revelation to them, but they didn’t have room to take it in yet.

Jesus was saying that revelation awaits capacity.

There’s revelation out there! It’s not that God is holding out on us or withholding a revelation, we’re just not able to handle it.

When the capacity comes, the revelation will come.

Sean said that when you pray for understanding, you expand your capacity for wisdom.

He went on to talk about the Spirit of counsel … The Spirit of counsel is a divine download of guidance from Heaven! This is God’s literal ability to direct you and speak to you.

When God reveals His counsel, it’s attested by might. Counsel and might go together.

Sean gave an example of when they were praying for a woman with stage IV cancer. Sean had a word of knowledge for her and then God gave him the comprehension …

Sean thought it was strange because he had never prayed that way before. Normally Sean might pray, “Let the cancer cells die or let the healthy cells reproduce,” but this time he prayed, “Let the cancer cells eat themselves.”

After they prayed, the woman came back and said she had a totally clean bill of health! The doctor even said that the cancerous cells had turned on themselves and consumed themselves! That was the Spirit of counsel connected to the Spirit of might.

When you get guidance from Heaven, the power of God follows!

The Holy Spirit is beyond ordinary logic. Holy Spirit is beyond your physical senses. He is not confused. We may be confused, but He is not confused.

Holy Spirit knows the way out of every situation we face. Isaiah 9:6 says that He’s a Wonderful Counselor!

The Spirit of counsel retrieves, receives and interacts with the Father … gathering counsel, revelation and direction … and making them available anytime, anywhere!

Remember when Jesus said in John 15:15 that He no longer called the disciples servants, He called them friends? Sean pointed out that the secrets of the Father are revealed to the friends of the Lord.

Some people get caught up wondering if they are a prophet. And the Bible does say that He reveals secrets to His prophets. John 15 tells us that the Lord reveals secrets to His friends too.

We all hear from God, but you can just concentrate on being a friend of God, because friends get secrets too. It’s available!
