This is the Strategy God Gave Me for Praying for the President

   Bookmark and Share

No matter who you voted for in the U.S. elections last November, God wants us to pray for our leaders. The apostle Paul urged us to pray for leaders and he did this during a time when world leaders were not godly. God wants us to pray for leaders no matter what their political party or beliefs happen to be. We need to pray that God’s will be done and not our own desires.

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:1–4 NIV

Pray for President Trump

I have been given a prayer assignment for President Trump and I pray intently for him and his leadership team daily. I had a prayer assignment for President Obama as well. The Bible verse mentioned above urges that we pray for leaders regardless if we agree with them or not. This is important because it allows us to hear God more clearly and align with biblical principles that will open the Heavens over us.

As the weight of the office settles on him, President Trump is under pressure and needs your prayers. He is being refined from a business leader into a President. Like many of us who have gone through promotions, he is in the “fire of the Lord” right now. Whether you agree with him or not, he needs your prayers.

Here is the prayer strategy the Lord gave me:

  • Pray that God would surround the President with godly counsel and wisdom.
  • Declare only those chosen by God can be placed in leadership positions.
  • Ask God to speak to spouses and family members through dreams and revelations. An example of this in the Bible is when Pilate’s wife had a dream that helped her husband deal with the crowd concerning Jesus (Matthew 27:19).
  • Pray our leaders will call upon godly counsel to help interpret and advise.
  • Declare that all demonic spirits and influences will be revealed, and the plans of the enemy will be made known.
  • Ask God to bless and protect them.

I pray this daily for the President and other leaders. I want to encourage you to come into agreement with this.

Prophetic word for the United States

The Lord gave me this word on the morning of the election (November 8, 2016):

“O America, I still love you and see your zeal for Me. Satan has asked to sift you like wheat and the enemy has been waging war against you. But a remnant is going to arise to possess the land. Your sons and daughters are going to awaken from a sleep and rise up like a mighty army. They will be like David’s mighty men (and women). Yes, women! I am moving on women in this hour. I am going to do this and it will bring about great changes that are needed for this time.”

This is a time to be in the unity of the Spirit, even if we do not agree on everything in the natural (Ephesians 4:3). It is unity that will reveal and break the plans of the enemy.

Blessings,

Doug Addison

I’m in complete agreement with you Doug. I prayed sporadically for Pres. Bush and past presidents, but sometime during Pres. Obama’s first term, Father moved it to a daily basis. I admit, I’ve never asked for dreams to the families but have always asked for spiritual guidance for all our leaders (from the pres. down to my city’s mayor) that they seek and follow God’s direction. Sometimes I’ve seen it, sometimes not. It’s never to late to start something, but for pres. Trump to be surrounded with godly council should have been going on since he won the election back in Nov. I mean, he’s been considering his appointments even since before then.
Donald Trump isn’t my favorite person, but neither was Barak Obama, but I’ve prayed for both (&will continue to do so). One thing that has grieved me lately is the populace in the Christian community who consider Trump an unnecessary evil and are praying and speaking against him. As you said, Pres. Trump is God’s anointed (at this time) and I repeat you, our prayers should be for his (Godly influenced) success that it would be well with us.

Thank you for this message. I appreciate your language style. Straightforward and not full of oblique stories.

  3. Jerome says:

My Family and I have been praying for President Donald J Trump. And in truth speaking, I feel much better that I don’t have to AGREE with somethings,HOWEVER, I feel this Love for Him when we pray. Thanks for posting this..

  4. Clyde Schramm says:

I too pray daily for president. I see the truth of praying for authorities. I saw several years ago a womans movement coming. Its closing in. I so agree with you.

  5. Miss Rob says:

Amen & thank you. You are so right, we may not agree with what is taking place in this nation; we may not even understand. But what we do know is that God is in control, He has given us a mandate to work with & by reading your post, you have helped me to put things “prayerfully” into prospective.

May God Continue To Bless You & Your Team In All That You Do For The Kingdom Of God.

    Miss Rob

  6. Kay says:

Thank you Doug. I have him as my assignment also since last Dec. On a few occasions I have responded to him on Twitter and once he answered to my surprise. Other times he has sent out a tweet to his millions using key words that I had just sent to him. I listen to Lance W. and I took from him to go a step beyond prayer. God bless you. Kay

  7. Mary says:

I’d like to ask a Ques. I’ve asked b4, but never received an answer. Prayerfully, u will answer me this time.
I thoroughly enjoy reading ur daily messages but I’d like to know; is this a personal daily prophecy or is it universal?

    • Admin Pam says:

This is a great question. First, here is Doug’s blog that talks about how he writes the daily words: http://dougaddison.com/2016/09/yes-you-can-hear-god-every-day/

Doug walks in a Times & Seasons prophetic anointing.
Daniel 2:21 God changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. God gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.

Doug asks God what God’s spirit will be doing every day in the next month and then writes down what he hears. This is the daily prophetic word that is released to everyone who signs up.

It is not a fortune cookie word that is given randomly to you. These are words from God on what the Holy Spirit is doing every day in the lives of his people on a corporate level.

Reading & praying over the daily prophetic words are a good way to get in the prophetic flow of what God is doing. Then you can hear the specific words from God for you. Doug’s goal is that everyone will be hungry to hear God and take the time to learn to hear God for themselves.

Doug has a free digital book that is a good way to begin.

Thank you Doug! I had the same sense front eh Lord that spouses/family were very important to pray for, especially the in Trump family. I agree with your word for the US. May we stay humbly In The Lords hands as He shapes and strengthens our hearts as He did when David was in the cave being developed into the king he was anointed to be. I praise God for your heart and courage. Keep up the good work. Praying for you!

  9. Kathleen says:

Thank you for sharing your revelation and wisdom from God! I, too, agree with the Bible (God’s written word) and you that we should pray for ALL leaders, everywhere.
I would like to encourage my siblings in Christ to consider that leaders include more than elected officials. Leaders can be appointed or hired or volunteering in ALL areas and levels of public and private concerns. Leaders can also be people who have inherited a position or seized control of a situation or country.
Let’s pray WITH Christ for his wise and loving will to be done.

  10. Susan Zeeb says:

Thank you for praying for our President! I always include him in my prayers but nothing like this wonderful strategy prayer! This brought tears to my eyes, I am so thankful for this prayer and I will use it everyday! I have known for a long time that we need to pray for those in authority, I do believe God will bless us through Donald Trump but also our boss, husbands, and spiritual leaders! Thank you Doug and Pam, God Bless you!! ❤💐

  11. Bert Porter says:

Thank you for the reminder to the body to pray for our president. He is only one man but chosen for this position for this time. I feel we, the church have been chosen for this time as well to pray and intercede for his success in God’s move to return righteousness to our Country. God bless your ministry.

  12. Lexie cole says:

We have a prayer team that meets every Tuesday and we have met for the last five years.
We always lift up the president and the leaders of this country, we don’t always like who God picks but we know he’s a good father, and knows what we need as leadership, our ways are not his ways, his ways are higher! We trust his ways, and never question it, we know he loves us, and knows what it will take to make this country what he created it for!
We need to all stay in unity and one accord so we can see miracles take place!!!!

  13. Helaine Chersonsky says:

I am in total agreement with you about President TRUMP and his family and counselors. I have also be been lead to invoke the Archangel MichAel to protect both President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel. Bless you and your family as you work faithfully for the Lord.
    In Christ

  14. Dorcas Stalling says:

I thank GOD for your encouraging words. There are so many people that are truly asleep and don’t have a clue right now. It is so sad. Prayer changes because we have a GOD that hears and answers. Blessings to you, your family, and your ministry in JESUS name!!!
