3 Confidence-Boosters to Make Waves in the Destiny Pool

Remember jumping into a pool for the first time?

Taking that initial leap is often the most difficult part. It’s just like starting anything new in life. The hardest part is simply getting started!

Making the plunge into your destiny may feel similar.

Here are 3 things you can do to gather the confidence to start making waves in your destiny pool.

1. Clear your thoughts

There is a clear connection between what you think about yourself and reaching your highest calling. 

If you stand on the edge of a pool and tell yourself, “I can’t do this. I’m a terrible swimmer.” You’re probably going to have a hard time jumping in. In fact, you may decide to never jump at all.

But if you reign in your thoughts and begin flipping them for good, you stand a better chance of jumping in feet first. “I can’t do this” becomes “I can do this!”

I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 NIV

2. Remember it’s okay to be practical

For all you planners out there, it’s okay to make plans for going after your destiny as long as they’re still flexible!

For example, take a person who doesn’t know how to swim. A dive into the deep end isn’t going to seem very practical to them without the skills and necessary preparation to make that leap.

Some of us are the “look before you leap” types—and that’s great! But try not to spend all of your life looking without much leaping going on.

Instead of saying, “I can’t do this.” Flip this thought into something actionable.

This thought becomes, “I can do this, it just may take some prep work.” Or, “I can do this, but maybe I need to grab a life-raft first.”

Listen, God knows you intimately. While we all have a destiny, not all of us are going to reach it with the same method, going through the same journey.

Let God guide you and ask him for an action plan.

Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. Psalm 119:133 NIV

3. Throw out the “all or nothing” mentality

Many of us struggle with this “all or nothing” mentality. If we can’t do something perfectly, we won’t make the leap of faith at all.

But if you know how to do something perfectly already, how is that taking a leap of faith? Faith requires a measure of unknown. It’s the belief in what we can’t see yet.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1 NIV

Taking a leap into your destiny will require some faith.

For we live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV

This doesn’t mean God leaves us alone.

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. Ephesians 3:17-18 NIV

It’s time to make some waves! No matter how deep you travel into God’s destiny for you, know that you will never be alone. His love will reach you no matter how deep you go!
