Examples of Spiritual Warfare in the Bible

Many people aren’t convinced that spiritual warfare is in the Bible. Spiritual warfare is often considered a negative thing … but it isn’t—It’s a positive one!

Here are some of my favorite examples of spiritual warfare in the Bible and how you can apply it to your life.

Spiritual warfare helps us overcome

“I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.” John 14:30 NASB

We need to be careful not to battle in the areas we have not fully overcome in our own lives.

It’s important to remember that you have a real enemy who doesn’t have good plans for you. If you throw a punch—expect the enemy to punch back.

The best way to overcome the enemy and bring him down in your life is to develop godly character. Then if you throw a punch, the enemy will miss when he tries to punch back because he has nothing in you.

Spiritual warfare shifts our focus to the positive

Many people think spiritual warfare is about knowing about all the negative things happening in the world and doing battle with that. But this is worldly thinking.

What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 1 Corinthians 2:12 NIV

Rather than focus on negative things, it helps instead to find the positive in everything and everyone. This is how God deals with us—with kindness!

Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil; my mouth has not transgressed. Psalm 17:3 NIV

Spiritual warfare helps teach you to rise above all the negative noise and the spirit of this world and come into agreement with the thoughts and ways of the Lord. You can do this by staying positive minded.

Spiritual warfare is best done with others

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12 NIV

The attacks we are seeing right now in the world are definitely not from God. This is the enemy, and God is getting the blame.

To prepare ourselves for reaching the world with God’s love, we will need to rid ourselves of things we might have in common with the spirits of fear, lack of love and judging others. This is a 3-cord strategy against the enemy!

As we do this, we will gain greater authority to minister to others and receive a clearer vision of what God is doing.

Remember, even if things look bleak right now, God is moving behind the scenes! These examples of spiritual warfare in the Bible will help you move forward with confidence.

Blessings,
