Keys to Having a Grateful Thanksgiving

We hope you have a very grateful Thanksgiving from all of us at InLight Connection!

In spite of how things look or feel, God is still in charge of things, and He has not forgotten us. We can shift the spiritual atmosphere by coming into agreement together (Matthew 18:19).

There is power in agreement! I realize that as we come together with family members over the holidays, there might be a lot of disagreement, especially this year as the atmosphere is negatively charged because of the social and political climate. This can make it difficult for anyone to have a grateful Thanksgiving!

You may even have an idea that you are following God’s instructions when you have these disagreements with your family at the holidays. And you certainly could be … all I’m saying is to take a step back.

Maybe what God is really looking for from you is to help your whole family have a grateful Thanksgiving. A time when we all put our differences to the side in order to eat and be thankful at the same table together.

There is always time for disagreements … but there’s not always time to spend with family and friends in peace. I invite you this Thanksgiving to initiate a peace offering with family and friendsand just be with those you love! No agenda necessary!

Choose peace even when you disagree

So, how can we have a grateful Thanksgiving? Well, there is power in agreement. It is important for us to agree with God and bring the qualities of Heaven to our relationships on Earth.

“Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God’s Law and Prophets and this is what you get.” Matthew 7:12 MSG

We can change the spiritual atmosphere over any relationship or situation by finding something positive about it.

Jesus did this with a Samaritan woman who had both political and religious differences with Him. He found something positive in her by calling her honest even though she was living a lifestyle of sin (John 4:18). This shifted her perspective and opened her up instead of closing her off to Him.

Steps to change the spiritual atmosphere

Here are a few simple steps you can take to change the spiritual atmosphere over your relationships and life—and have a grateful Thanksgiving:

1. Find ways to bless people (bless those who curse you).

2. Ask God to allow you to see people as He sees them.

3. Agree ahead of time to let go of past wounds and perceptions, and let God do something new.

4. When you change your own perspective, you gain back what the enemy tries to steal.

5. Get out of a negative spin and focus on something positive.

6. Pick and choose your battles.

Jesus said,  “… the Kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:21 KJV

That means we can bring God’s Kingdom and presence everywhere we go. I am so excited for what is coming to us. Though things have been trying for many people, God has some amazing plans for you.
