Freedom Is Available for Hurting Hearts

In this special excerpt, Ray Leight dove into an intensive Q&A!

Below are some notes from our Partners-only Monthly Mentoring Session. These sessions have been recorded and you can access them by becoming a Partner today! Find out more at DougAddison.com/TimeOff

Javonni:

Someone on our call has asked how to access what you do. Do you do classes or HeartSync?

Ray Leight:

HeartSync is not what I do. I do identity coaching. Heart Sync is a ministry that does inner healing, and I have never experienced HeartSync myself, but I understand their concepts.

What I do is a little different, but it’s all the same. Let me just be clear: it’s truth and lies, forgiveness and repentance. It never changes from that or what you think about it.

In my experience, my personality and development were tied into identity, and I have discovered that you can know who you actually are in that compartment. So, what I do is identity coaching. I do individual sessions online and I work with people all over the world on Zoom.

I will personally help you have an encounter with Jesus and connect with those compartments . . .  Some of those areas don’t even have the ability to experience Jesus because the lie is so traumatizing. That freaks people out sometimes, but in that area, your heart doesn’t know any difference between Jesus or anybody else. So, what I do is help people just get the information. Your heart is not wrong in this process.  We’re just finding out what’s going on, and when we find out the actual lie, we can understand the reaction.

The revelation of what I do came from Genesis 3 where the Lord showed me that the enemy tricked Adam and Eve into believing a lie, and then they ate the fruit. So, in my opinion, the original sin was not eating the fruit, it was believing the lie of the enemy. They would never have eaten the fruit if they didn’t believe the lie.

You see what I’m saying? So, eating the fruit is sinful. But what people have done is they’ve made the behavior the sin. And then we try to manage the sin instead of getting to the real root issue, which is the unhealthy, traumatizing belief that is not true.

And so, I don’t even do details. Details are insignificant in the process of healing. They’re not part of the healing process, they are part of the re-traumatizing process. That’s why you run through those details over and over again because of past trauma … because you’re emotionally addicted to how that feels, and you just relive and re-traumatize yourself.

One of the things I share with people is that if you’ve told the story of your past trauma more than seven times and it’s not a testimony, it’s time to pursue healing for that issue. Because you’re just re-traumatizing yourself as you share that story. So, what’s happening there is you’re eating of the fruit, which is the details. That’s the behavior and we don’t need to worry about that.

Remember that Adam and Eve hid from God in fear, and they covered themselves in shame. They also blamed each other in guilt. So that’s what we do when we’re tricked, whether it’s generationally, culturally, situationally, religiously.

Some type of thing affects us where there’s a lie that’s engaged, and we come into agreement with it. Most of these things are hanging out in our subconscious, not our conscious.

So, in that place where we are manifesting the behaviors, we’re also writing a subconscious program that runs on fear, shame and guilt. Every time lies trigger behavior and action, and whether it’s some type of addiction or relational dysfunction, there’s all kinds of dysfunctions and unhealthy behaviors that we have in an attempt to get our needs met.

There’s a real need in all those areas where you act like a fool. You still have a legitimate, real need in that area, and when we use unhealthy ways to try to get that need met, we never get the need met. And then we have to find more ways to try to get that need met, because we’re starving ourselves for the actual need, and that’s the way I see it.

So, what I do is help people connect with those areas in coaching sessions—to find out the lie and the truth. Find out what people would have if they didn’t have to protect themselves and weren’t traumatized by their beliefs. And then I give their heart a choice.

We just would (at some point) break the agreement with the lies, release all the pain, hurt, and trauma, forgive, and give their heart the opportunity for redemption. What I found is that a redeemed heart will eventually always choose redemption.

While I was on staff at Bethel for ten years (I was physically there in Redding, CA for seven years), I worked with the extreme cases and people got referred to me from all over who had tried many other ministries … There’s no dead ends with what I do.

Even if your heart isn’t ready for redemption, you will find out the truth of who you are, and the belief that’s manifesting your behaviors. You will know yourself better and you will have choices that your heart doesn’t have right now, because you’re stuck in just reliving that trauma.

There’s an individual session I have called “Identity Restoration.” If you’re kind of a self-doer, I have an e-course called Identity Restoration where I walk you through that training on how to take inventory of your own heart, be present, and find out what’s going on. And then I have other books and I do workshops. Steve de Silva and I are also doing a Prosperous Identity workshop, dealing with financial trauma and emotional, financial, and mental health.
