God is releasing your assignment for the coming year right now. It’s common for all hell to break loose in your life during this process.

Don’t be alarmed if you experience things like setbacks, debt, discouragement or broken relationships. It can feel like you’ve taken a step forward only to take several steps back. This is the enemy’s strategy to get you to quit.

But God is releasing His strategy to get you to break through into one of the most amazing years we have seen in a long time. Rather than step down or back away from the difficulties, this is your time to step up! Many of you are called to be forerunners— whether leaders or participants—in the coming revival. This is why the enemy has been coming in full force against you.

Here are some ways you can step up and fight to get your breakthrough and not end up in a tailspin.

Step up in prayer

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12 NIV

People are not our enemy—Satan and his demons are. However, if you try to battle the enemy with the same spirit the enemy is operating in, you will get knocked out.

Many people have been trying to battle the enemy. But if you have anything in your life that is in common with the enemy, then things could backfire for you.

“I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.” John 14:30 NASB

Jesus had nothing in common with the enemy. Things like soul wounds, past hurts, unforgiveness and bitterness can cause us to lose our authority in prayer. When we allow God to heal us of these things, we can take authority over them.

Step up in preparation

We must come into agreement with the spirit of loving people and not judging them. The best way to give the enemy a big “black eye” is to do what Jesus said:

“How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Luke 6:42 NIV

Here are a few more Bible verses to help you grow in your authority in the battle:

  • “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” Romans 12:14

We must remember that God’s love is shown most clearly when we love one another.

  • No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:12 NIV
  • “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13: 35 NIV

Loving and not judging will shift the spiritual atmosphere over you, your family, your workplace, your ministry, your businesses, your community, cities and nations. Love truly is the key, the secret and the answer to the pain in the world today.

Allow God’s love to fight the battles you are experiencing today. Step down from fighting with the same weapons the enemy uses and step up into the love of God today!

Blessings,

Thanks Doug…. I am going through exactly those issues you describe. Now I can see that it is part of God’s plan to draw me closer and take me higher. I will ptherefore press on in prayer and preparation.

  2. Peggy Roberts says:

Yes that’s exactly what’s happening to a lot of us down here in Australia and we cannot afford to respond as the world does…..that’s what satan wants. No, we must love our persecuters with the holy love the Lord has brought into us and yield to the Holy Spirit so His love flows out . It’s really amazing how good you feel.
God bless you and thank you for your encouragement to the Body of Christ

It is so true! I have been on the verge of launching a design business/ministry that has been 10 years in the making. I have had tremendous difficulty in my relationships at work and in my family. It was so scary I did not think I would make it. I was hit in the area of my greatest weaknesses so that my response was to react in the flesh. Thank Goodness, God revealed to me what was going on so it was not too late to repair with the aid of the Holy Spirit. God brought me through and up and out. Thank you Doug for the head’s up.

  5. Sonya Sparrow-Petty says:

I so love this message that God gave to you, Doug. I can’t put my finger on anything specific and the Holy Spirit did not ping me in that special way He often does, but I felt such a feeling of “all is well, it is well with my soul” during and after reading the blog. Thanks for lifting up my week with your encouraging words.

I hear the sound of the shofar softly I am watching clouds…and praying like never before….that wonderful song… turn your eyes upon Jesus. Resonates in my soul and I’m counting my blessings not my battles. Again thank you for your wisdom like the balm of Gilead …

Thank you so much Doug. You have been one of the voices that I have gleaned from while navigating in my current season and now entering into the promises of God in Jesus name. God bless you for being a Prophet who hears the voice of God and communicates His heart of love to those who want to go higher in the things of God.

    Dear Doug,
    Blessings to you & Linda,
    Your words are very encouraging.
You prayed with me , several years ago when u
You were at Vertical Call church in Santa Rosa, California. While on a break, We prayed for my Grandson Jacob. He has since got off drugs, got married, has baby girl(0ne) And is manager of Papa Murphy’s in Klamath Falls Ore. Doing very well. Still praying for him because he struggles at times with his past but praising God for the changes in his life.
Thank you for your encouraging words and faithful heart. May you be strengthen and lifted up with Joy and encouragement in your own challenges.

  11. Ayshwarya George says:

Wow this is such a now Word. Thank you Lord for the confirmations.
Lord had been speaking very clearly about Him being the Lord of Armies doing the Battles . He had asked to wait for the Wind in the Mulberry Trees. He is giving us divine strategies to annihilate the accuser of the brethren. We just need to be sober, vigilant and battle ready. I had heard the Battle cry of the Lord. Spirit Move upon us.
Eph 6 , 2 Corin 10.5-8 that we need to battle it in our Spirit. Not to fight any attacks with flesh.
Hebrew 12 to uproot every root of bitterness and to strive for peace.
I understand the gate is very narrow and the need to be having all the fruits of the Spirit.

Lord I await expectantly for your move

  12. Christina M Hallock says:

There was a onslaught for allmost 7 months that was practically body breaking in my personal and ministry life. Broken relationships, overwhelming sorrow and attacks. This was where strategy was implemented and doing things different happened. For every aspect of love that was attacked, that is where I sought to strengthen. Visions have been coming regularly, like I have never had prior. A deep flowing with the Holy Spirit and prophetic insight and prayers. This is like nothing I have encountered before. As far as judgement, the key is that the increase of bad we saw, was actually a time permitted so those harboring these things would get to a point of surrendering all, and have such a deep cleaning and infilling of the Holy Spirit, they will never go back. It is also for each individual seeing a repeated cycle that has entrapped us to come to the surface and be dealt with, once and foe all. Now, this is coming to pass. It is a time to rejoice, the servants heart has rooted in the prodigals, and the joy if the return is immanent! This path has dust and peace. The dust clings from the houses that welcome us! We will not have to shake the dust off, for the hunger on those we are sent to will not reject the Lord 🙂 thank you for your insight from the Lord and wncouragement as always!

  13. Heath Havlick says:

WOW. God let me to Doug’s short video that mentioned this post & I knew it was for me. It is uncanny how accurate it is; just last night is when the attack hit, and I have been struggling with rage, judgement and lack of love all day. (These are not like me at all.) I knew I was going to need to “step up” my prayer, and here is David, writing about all of it! If I’d read this the day it came out, it wouldn’t have meant much to me. Today is the day I was meant to read it, and it means everything. Thank you, living God! And thank you, Doug, for your faithfulness.
