The Joseph anointing (Genesis 41) is not just for business people or prophets. This is for everyone at all levels. Even children are finding ways to raise money to feed their neighbors, help purchase medical or school supplies and so much more!

Many are struggling due to job loss or reduced work hours and have fallen into using credit more than ever. I want to help you break out of that cycle and get positioned for the Joseph anointing by getting out of debt—and staying out.

How to get out of debt

The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is a slave to the lender. Proverbs 22:7 NIV

The first step is to be honest with yourself. Most people have shame around debt and don’t like to talk about it, but it’s important to let someone else know. Come out of the debt closet and find an accountability partner or some people to pray with you.

Set some financial goals for yourself, your family, business or ministry. Then set aside a small amount each month towards your goals. Start a spending journal, and track everything you spend. Shift some of that money over to grow your savings. When you have some money set aside, you might not even need to use a credit card for car repairs or other surprises!

How to stay out of debt

But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth.
Deuteronomy 8:18 NIV

Find ways to make extra income. Get creative! Start a part-time side job shoveling snow or mowing lawns, cleaning houses or cooking for others, gardening, fixing cars, or using your skills online. Also, fast food chains and grocery stores are almost always looking for help.

Use the “snowball” method to pay down your credit cards and get out of debt. Once you pay off one card, add that monthly payment amount to the next card, and so on. This will break you out of the victim mentality and encourage you to focus even more. You’ll be unstoppable!

We all need to develop a lifestyle of earning, giving, saving and spending in moderation. When you start taking steps towards getting out of debt or getting to the next level financially, the clarity will begin to come and you will gain momentum.

Before you know it, things will begin to “snowball” in your favor!

Blessings,
