Instead of New Year’s Resolutions, Will You Do This with Me?

Instead of New Year's Resolutions, Will You Do This with Me?

Many people make New Year’s resolutions this time of year. But I would like you to consider something much greater: Would you join me in starting a New Year’s revolution in your life?

Studies show that New Year’s resolutions are not always successful. This is because we often make a decision without the right tools or a plan to make it happen.

My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6a NIV

For a number of years, I tried setting New Year’s resolutions to do things like write a book, lose weight and spend more time with God. I struggled and often gave up—until 14 years ago when the Lord revealed to me some strategies that radically changed my life.

I have now developed a revolution lifestyle and I am helping millions of people do the same.

Why you can do this

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 NKJV

God created you uniquely. He created the world and the Bible tells us that we are created in His image. That means that we are all creative by nature.

Since God is limitless, what you can do through His love, power and strength has no limits as well. God can speak to you in endless ways and you have access to everything you need to succeed because the Holy Spirit is in you.

Getting clarity helps

Years ago, someone asked me what I wanted in life. I said I wanted to be happy. Then they asked me, “What would that look like?” To be honest, I had not really given it much thought. And therein lies the problem with most of our efforts to bring about change.

If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed. Proverbs 29:18 MSG

If you are not clear about what you want, how would you ever know if you obtained it? You need to get as clear as you can on what God is speaking to you and then “attend to it” by taking action.

Doing one small thing

The Lord gave me a strategy years ago that I call one small thing. What is one small thing that you can do today towards a goal or life desire?

I developed this one small thing strategy and it allowed me to write my first book in 30 days. I was able to lose weight and develop a deeper relationship with the Lord—all by doing one small thing each day. I have now developed a lifestyle of breakthrough instead of breakdown.

Take a moment and think about this: What is one thing you would like to accomplish this year?

Now, based on the one thing you want to accomplish the most, what is one small thing you can do today towards that?

The actions can be as simple as doing some Internet research, buying a book or signing up for a class. The key is adding some action to your prayers. Faith without works is dead (James 2:14–26).

Most people spend their time praying and asking God to open doors not realizing that, according to Matthew 7:7, we sometimes need to take the proactive steps of asking, seeking and knocking before the door will open.

The hardest part of change is simply getting started. Once you get going on something, momentum will kick in and any hopeless feelings will soon vanish.

I want to encourage you to make 2018 the most amazing year of your life!

I know God loves me. Each time I attempt to take a set, the same thing that I have prayed for and keeps bothering me, come. I need to move hopefulness out of my way. Pray for me.
