The Best Bible Verses to Declare with Thanksgiving

Happy, happy Thanksgiving to those in the United States!

On this holiday, many people like to eat good food and share in the company of our family and friends. It’s a time when we give thanks to God and remember how grateful we are for all we have—and all that is still to come!

I invite you today, whether you’re celebrating Thanksgiving or not, to take this opportunity to lean into God’s love for you.

Here’s how I do that: I like to declare Bible verses over my life.

I encourage you to take a moment to read these Bible verses aloud and declare them over your life. Then watch thanksgiving spring up in your heart and mind!

God thinks you’re good

For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. 1 Timothy 4:4–5 NIV

Something to be thankful for: You are a creation of God, and everything the Lord has made is good.

You are God’s child

Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Psalm 100:3 NIV

Something to be thankful for: You can rest in the fact that you are God’s child, and He is your God.

God’s love for you is never-ending

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34 NIV

Something to be thankful for: Everything passes away, but God’s love lasts forever.

God has given us the free gift of grace

I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.
1 Corinthians 1:4 NIV

Something to be thankful for: You can’t buy God’s love for you. It’s a free gift!

God knows your needs

Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:8–9 NIV

Something to be thankful for: God gives good stuff to His children. He meets your needs and even satisfies some of your heart’s desire!

There’s always something to praise God for

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. Psalm 100:4 NIV

Something to be thankful for: If you really look, you can always find something to be grateful for. A grateful attitude leads to a joyful heart!

God helps us do all things in excellence

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 NIV

Something to be thankful for: God has given you power through Jesus to be able to do all things well!

God’s love leads to generosity

You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:11 NIV

Something to be thankful for: You can trust that God has given you the tools to go to new levels in life. He has given you the resources to be generous!

Hard times happen, but God is there

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6–7 NIV

Something to be thankful for: Sometimes, our circumstances are not so great. But when we rejoice, God is able to calm our hearts and bring joy to our spirit.

Give thanksgiving this Thanksgiving

The holidays can sometimes make people feel lonely more than any other time of the year. If you feel this way, God is there with you right now.

As you declare these verses, watch God’s supernatural peace flood your heart.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Blessings,
