How to Get Ready for the New Year

Jump into joy

The key to  preparing for and getting through the new year is found in shifting things to joy and hope.

No matter how you might feel or how things look, it is important to keep your perspective that the Lord is still with you, He has not forgotten you and He is still on His throne.

The joy of the Lord is your strength

Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10 NIV

The Lord is saying it is time to change your attitude to joy! As you do this, you will break through the negative atmosphere and break open your ability to hear the Lord.

The Lord’s promises are here and even though we have walked through some difficult times, He is bringing some major and awesome changes. The shift is here!

We are going to shift from surviving to thriving, but there is a tractional time to get there. You can open this up right now by aligning with the aspects of the Lord.

Focus on love, joy and peace … and in the midst of the storms you will see changes.

Let go of the old

There have been a lot of old things trying to keep you down, but it is time to break out of the old and break through to the new!

The Lord is removing depression, sickness, despair, death, anxiety and fear, to name a few.

The new season is here

This is not the end of the world. In fact, it is the beginning of a new season of the promises of the Lord, and new assignments are being released.

We still have some work to do, and it is going to be fun!

The Lord is going to use everything, and you will see things start to work together for your good.

He is bringing some major spiritual gifts, promotions and an increase of healing and authority, especially in prayer and intercession.

He is releasing new power over the enemy, and the things that have overcome you in the past will start losing their power.

Year of the Lord’s favor

To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. Isaiah 61:2–3 NIV

The Lord is going to turn your mourning and despair into joy and praise. This is going to release new songs, worship and joy.

The new is here

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!      Isaiah 43:18–19 NIV

The Lord is saying to let go of the past and move forward to the new things, even if you don’t see them yet.

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die.  Ecclesiastes 3:1–2 NKJV

As you die and let go of the old season, the Lord is going to meet you with a joyous birth of new strength and encouragement.

Practical steps

Find Bible verses and pray over them. Combine this with listening to uplifting worship music and consider taking communion daily or as much as you can.

Fast from negativity

Consider going on a negativity fast.

I do my best to fast from negative thoughts and talk. It will eventually become a lifestyle of blessing and not cursing, as Jesus said (Luke 6:28).

This will help accelerate you into the new season and break off the things of the past.

The breakout power is here!

Bible verse to pray

Consider praying and decreeing this Bible verse over this next week or longer:

I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow. Jerimiah 31:13 NIV

Ask the Lord to show you if there is anything you need to change. Do this with joy!

Replace your despair with worship and singing. This will open the presence of the Lord over you in new ways.

Happy New Year!

Blessings,
