Accessing the Realm of Creativity

Doug is currently on sabbatical, so we have an excerpt from one of our live Zoom calls for Partners. If you want to become a Partner and gain access to future live Zoom calls (as well as past calls in their entirety), go to DougAddison.com/TimeOff for all the details.

Brian Simmons gave a powerful message about accessing God’s creativity in us! Here are a few of the notes:

Brian started out by saying that when God said, “Let there be light,” He imagined it first. Before we can create something, it must be in our minds.

Think about the way artists look at a blank canvas, and then they bring something glorious into being. Creativity starts in our heart and in our thoughts.

Creativity takes us into the mystery of worship. We don’t have to have answers, we only worship.

Man was not made to analyze God. Man was not made to put God into his finite head. What a small place to put the living God!

The door to truth is not the intellect. The door to truth is the spirit yielded to God. The intellect is a very weak tool in the Kingdom of God.

Our thoughts and our minds apart from God … are an enemy. The biggest devil you’re going to face in the coming days is on your shoulders. You’re going to have to deal with thoughts and deal with getting out of your mind—getting into a realm that goes beyond natural thinking … and stepping into that eternal realm of the Kingdom of God.

Jesus was crucified at Golgotha—“the place of the skull.” Until the cross pierces your skull, revelation can’t enter.

Golgotha comes from the Aramaic root word where we get the name Goliath. Goliath is like the mind of man—that intimidating, better-than-you, taller-than-you, stronger-than-you mentality of arrogance. It’s religious arrogance—the know-it-all arrogance. This must be cut off!

Where did David’s stone hit Goliath? In his head! Freedom starts in the mind, first, and then we see our actions change.

Here’s how to access the realm of creativity: Worship despite mystery and in spite of not having answers. Worship opens the door to creativity!

The purpose of creation is to display the glory of God. The purpose of your life is to display the glory of God, and you’re going to do it!

Brian filled us in on his training as a linguist and how he was sent to the jungle as a missionary. He assisted with the translation process with a people group who never had a language in a written form. After that, he came back to the US and pastored for eighteen years.

Brian never thought he’d use his translation skills again … and then Jesus came into his room in 2000, breathed on him and gave him his commission. Brian felt the breath of Heaven upon his heart. Brian feels the Lord’s divine presence on him as he translates. He feels the Lord flowing through him, helping him and encouraging him.

Brian charges us to remember this: There’s nothing greater than being an instrument in the hands of God.

Make this your prayer for the rest of the month: “Use me, Lord.” Just those three words. And if you get tired of saying those, start saying, “Let Him kiss me.” These simple prayers will unleash something within you!

InLight Connection thanks Brian Simmons for sharing his heart with us!
